Totalled.....

What happened?

Dude Im sorry for ya, thats a major bummer, and only 1500 bucks out of the deal?!

Ted, I think you got hosed, I turned mine into ins and they gave me a check for $5,000 and I kept the Jeep.

Have you already accepted the check??

BTW, we need pics, need dirty laundry

I dunno....to go any farther i would need to hire an independant appraiser and the insurance co will do the same... they come to an agreement and then thats what i would get.... i risk getting less and taking much longer to get it back on the road.

I don't have enough fight in me right now to play that game...

My crash damage was very similar to yours and the bill ran about 3500.

Labor was at least half of that.

I'm suprised that they valued a 91 at 2400 but Non stock, lifted w/o bumper might color their calculations.

An auto body shop would give you an estimate so you would have a ballpark to play with if you haven't made up your mind.

I know what you mean about getting it back on the road- What a pain!

Ted Z, who's your insurance company? I think we need to boycot them and find out which ones are good.

That's the funniest thing I've heard all week ... using "good" and "insurance company in the same sentence. :D

Oh, wait -- it wasn't the same sentence, only the same paragraph. No matter ... it's still an oxymoron. I don't think there's any such thing as a good insurance company.

Sorry to see that they are hosing you. My insurance totaled my S-10 after a 20 year old kid ran a stop sign DUI on a suspended license. I drilled his pickup and didn' even crack my radiator and they totaled my truck. Purely cosmetic damage. Good thing is I ended up with an XJ and here I am, but they bent me over on all my mods. I have learned to keep an estremely detailed list of mods and recipts. Hopefully I will never have to use it. Good luck on getting the Jeep back on the road. It doesn't look too bad. Looks like you will be frequenting some pick-n-pulls.

eagle....

I keep telling you but your stubborn ass never listens.......

there's a reason that you don't deal with insurance companies....

you deal with insurance agencies.....

BIG DIFFERENCE.

I agree with BJ.

All of my insurance, auto, home, life, etc. is through a friend that is an underwriting agent. Last fall I backed into a car in the parking lot at Family Video. I called my agent...within 10 minutes he was on the scene. No cops involved, and the victim was pleased that it was taken care of so fast. Best of all, living in a small town, my name wasn't in the Effingham Daily News for everyone to see!

I was through Effingham last year..

anyway.. sorry about the rough deal with the insurance company..
You had an awesome looking XJ..

Hang in there man..

to be honest, i dont think that the cops not showing up was due to your buddy in the ins. industry. most of the time (i could be putting my foot in my mouth here) if a collision (note i didnt say accident) occurs on public property the police cant do anything (at least thats been my experience when backing into people at gas stations and such). im not advocating breaking the law but ill be damned if i come to a complete stop at a shopping center intersection if nobody is coming.

Legally you are right, the police don't have to show up, but most of the time it is a good idea, depending on which side of the accident you are on. If you are clearly at fault i.e. you backed into a stationary vehicle or you rearend someone then it would benefit you for the cops not to show up. However the police officer writes the report is the biggest piece of evidence that the insurance companys/agencies go off of. In a lot of situations you are correct though. They write the report up as a "no fault" accident and you both go to your own ins. co/agency and life goes on. Just wanted to clarify.

Teddy,

I thought this thing was totalled once before??? In a shopping center parking lot??? Or is this the same accident?

B-loose

unfortunately it is a new accident.... not totalled last time.

But this will afford me my new three link front suspension....
