Tornado Chasers on the Discovery channel?

that would be awesome our xj tiv would kick the crap out of their silly metal thingy and reids overreacting self

You know, he may over react and act like a drama queen --

But he's damn good at finding the tornadoes.

Ok, lets just follow the TIV thing and its tornado finding radar contraption around until he decides to b*tch out. Then we just go balls to the walls right into the tornado!!!

I think im going to buy a crappy xj (thats a relative term for 10 year old vehicles) and then start welding all the spare plate steel i have onto it.:scottm:

Gotta have at least 3" lift - since all that armor will compress the suspension.

Might as weld some grating material over the side windows (attach it to the exo).

wont compress that much man, not adding 1,000 pounds, and i see you like me side window idea...

yeah but i was thinking the ability of removable armor, and if you look close enough you can see my light weight armor siding, its not a complete plan, just an concept

I'm just giving you a hard time, man. Removable armor would be a good idea, IMO. Better for aerodynamics and quicker replacement.

Plus, you still want to be able to stuff 31 or 32" tires in there for the increase in ground clearance ... I imagine that you'd run into debris or washouts in old roads, etc.

Yea agreed, but im saying AFTER we lift it and add armor, I wouldn't want more than 2 inches of total lift.
Maybe we should cover the wheel wells for greater aerodynamic stability?

if we modified the xj enough with an exo cage and plexi widows and all of the other things i could be registered as a home built vehicle and inspection and regular vehicle laws wouldn't apply . and as for the suspension why not use air suspension you could get the lift when you need it and when your ready for an intercept you drop it the the ground reducing the air getting under it

There's no inspection where I live, so we should keep it at my house.

I think covering the wheels would be a good idea; along with removable light weight armor that attatches to an exo.

Because we dont have discovery channel funding!!

i was envisioning something different, 14 bolt rear 60 front both selectable lockers 37s with air suspension so it can lower down, obviously some sort of armor and anti getsuckedupinatornadoness, some sort of strong plastic for windows (gotta save weight) cummins 6bt if itll fit, and a NP205 t case for when we need 4 wheel peel
