Too much or too little shackle angle

I got shackle relocation blocks to fix my shackle angle that was straight up and down. the first whole i tried put me more than 45 at 56 degrees. the next whole back gives me 25 degrees. now i have to choose too much or too little. which would be better to go with.

Flip the brackets, and try the slotted holes

Too little angle will make it ride like poo
too much angle, and you run the risk of inverting the shackle

i did have it set too much for awhile and it did ride better, i changed it today and it rides more harsh. i hope im explaining this right. when i say too much of an angle, past 45 im talking about the top of the shackle being closer toward the front of the vehicle than the bottom of the shackle. the shackle isn't flat but getting there, still has some angle to it.

The chance of inverting a shackle goes down with increased angle. Mine sit at about 60 degrees and I will need to do something different for my mounting. Are you at 25 degrees empty? How often do you carry a load? My jeep is pretty much only for wheeling, so I'll be shooting for 25-30 degrees empty as it always has tools and spare parts loaded in.

heres where my shackle angle is right now. 70 degrees

if i move it one whole forward it is laying more flat at 34 degrees. you can see where i had to grind the mount to clear the shackle when i had it set there. i hope this clears up some of my confusion. 90% of the time i am empty with nothing in the back. if im camping ill have the back packed up with gear. when im wheeling he back is empty.

The shackle can get inverted toward the rear as well

A shackle can invert to the rear, although generally the mount gets in the way before that happens. The flare in the shackle keeps it from flipping up with the relocation bracket. The stock shackle box also will not allow rear inversion.
