I have this intermittant stalling issue that has got me stumped! I have a 90 renix with a 94 HO motor in it. The issue Im having is that when I slow down and reaccelerate she stalls. Ive already gone through grounds and cleaned them thoroughly. Ive thrown all kinds of money and replace just about every sensor I can think of. This happened a few month ago where she would start to hesitate and then I'd boost the RPMs and she'd stay running untill she would die and not restart. So I replaced the CPS. Well she would run ok for a couple of months. So last week I went to walmart one night and I came out and she wouldnt start up again. After about an hour she started and I backed out of the parking space and it died, restarted and it died again. Finally she died and wouldnt restart. So I had it towed home. I found that I didnt have any spark so I replaced the CPS again. The CPS that was in there was only 2 months old. Replaced it and she started right up. Two days later I was driving to the store and she died again. Got out and for some reason I poured a bottle of cold water on the Coil. She started right back up. Drove it to where I needed to go. Then drove it home. Next day I replaced the coil. And I also noticed that the plug in the ICM that gets the ECU/CPS signal was frayed and there were broken strands. Replaced that and she ran for a good week and a half but I noticed she was idling a bit low. Idle rpm any where from 500- 900rpm and the minute I put it in gear she drops to 300-500rpm.
That brings us to today. Was driving to work and I slowed down for traffic and she stalled. I tried to restart and she was dead in the water. She wouldnt even crank. Got out and disconnected the CPS and reconnected it pushed the connector in the ICM i replaced and I also pulled the Latch relay to look at. Plug it back in and she started but ran very rich for about 5 seconds with black smoke coming out of the tail pipe. Then Cleared up. Got to work and it sat all afternoon and went i went home she started and ran. Then when I got stuck at a light it turned green I stepped on the gas and she kinda choked like she was gonna stall the she went. She ran fine Until I had to slow down for another light.
Im really stumped with this and Im tired of dropping money. What To check next? How can I check my latch relay? Could a bad map sensor cause this problem? Thats the only thing I havent replaced. SOMEONE HELP!!!! THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVER!!!!!

Thanks ~Matt

Look over the wiring and the connector to the CPS real good. the wire sometimes gets burnt as it hits the back of the exhaust manifold, or you could have a loose sloppy pin or corrosion inside the connector. Did you check the MAP sensor?

The really weird thing is when it wouldn't even crank. Do you have a built in voltmeter? Are you POSITIVE that your battery is good? If no built in alternator, check for 12.5 volts with a hand held or take battery in to auto parts chain for a test. IIRC Renix is sensitive to voltage and can start but not run right sometimes if voltage is low.
