Okay, I have tried to search for tire sizes but not getting any results back. I have read a number of tire brand or model specific threads and have narrowed down what brand/model tire I want. Since I have a 2000 Classic with the 5 spoke 16" wheel (which I love). Since a lot of tires in 16" are load range D or E, which I don't want, I think I am going with Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO's as they seem to be highly thought of.
As for the sizes, I am doing a 3" lift and do not want to trim at all, get maxium flex without tearing up the tires or XJ. I know 31"x10.5" on stock wheels will rub on the lower arm but everyone seems to say that 30"x9.5" do not and give max flex without rubbing.
So here is the question. A 255/70-16 is basically equivilant to a 30"x9.50" so that should clear without problems. A 245/75-16 would be like a 31"x9.50". I haven't heard much about using this size but wondered if the extra height would be okay and not rub since it's still only 9.5" wide. Most of the rubbing I hear of is because the tire is 10.50" wide on a 31" tire. I was thinking this might be the best of both worlds.
Any comments or ideas? Thanks.
