Thinking about selling my rig

But, I don't really know what kind of asking price to affix to it.

As much as I love her, and as much fun as I've had in our short tenure together, it is entirely impractical as a student vehicle for someone whose sole income for the next 2 years will be courtesy of government and private financial aid.

I guess I'd LIKE to get 3500-4000 for it, but I don't really know if that's entirely unreasonable.

should I even bother writing out specs on this thread, or is it going to be moved??

any input is appreciated - thank you.

Don't give up. Have patience. Concentrate on other things for a while. It'll come to you.

Some of us have been there, including not wheeling for a couple years. ;) There's always an open shotgun seat on runs...

thanks phil - given your experience in the field, could i PM you a crib sheet of details and get a rough estimate, or could you send me to someone more qualified if you don't feel comfortable doing so?

x2.

I was going through the same thing a few weeks ago... Don't let the stress of school get to you. Think about it with a clear mind over winter break or something.

here's pics.

go ahead, show us the goods. If you have to sell that is one thing, if you can hang onto it...by all means do so.

ok.
i am hesitant to post this in the nwc forum - i dont like to cross-post, it can piss off touchy people.

i don't really know what else to include. please let me know what you think would be reasonable, i need to sell this thing soon so i can buy a honda or something.

I think you were in the ballpark with your original estimate.

If you told me $3500.00 I don't think I'd blink more than twice.

The non cat might be an issue depending on where you live, but slapping one in is a 40 minute job.

The NWC isn't touchy....we're more the FEELY type.

Yes, but them letters in your name are RED and you have wheeled with us.

You aren't posting just to sell your heep - We're now in charge of talking you out of it...!!! ;)

That's QUITE a difference!

He has a hi-flo cat, no muffler. :)

just to clarify, it DOES have a cat - but it does not have a muffler. same deal though - probably a 30-40 minute job.

as much as i'd love to be able to just buy some sh!t $2000 commuter honda and keep my heep, i just don't have that kinda money laying around. i get (after tuition and books) $3000 a quarter to live off of, and that's made extra tight by $50/week spent on gasolina for my monstrosity. plus, that figure doesn't even account for the off chance that i might want to go WHEELING!!

it's good to hear, however, that 3500 is not out of the realm of possibility.

i appreciate all input on this, so keep it coming.

a set of 4.56 gears (uninstalled) could be included also if they would be a dealbreaker.

Would you like to sell the 4.56's out right?

i would, they're listed in the classifieds if you search - but since you asked,

200 shipped w/in the continental US.

paypal preferred :)

My bad, but any way shoot me an e-mail and if you could send some pictures. Then we could exchange info.. [email protected]
By the way nice rig. (you'll regret it) when you see some one else driving it.
of course i'll regret it - but i'll regret it even less when i have my nursing degree finished and can actually afford to buy/drive something with less-than-ideal gas mileage such as a jeep.

Just so you know, and I don't expect you to know what I mean, but I bought an away-from-home-terminal car (IS), a 1983 Nissan Sentra, for $300.00. I drove that car for 5 years before it finally quit. I sold it for $175.00 to the first person that came to look at it, and all it needed was a new fuel pump. I was just too lazy to fix it. Still runs today!!!
With that being said, cars like that are out there to be found if you take your time and look.

KEEP THE JEEP!!!

i fully understand the <$500 car phenomenon. aside from a rather nice 1987 bmw, a decent honda, a couple of type 1 aircooled volkswagens and now this jeep, my car career has revolved around 200 dollar cars, 500 dollar cars, etc.

i haven't had that kind of luck, and i really need something that's going to be reliable as a daily driver. if i were to get ANOTHER car in addition to my jeep, i'd probably cut it up and turn it into a buggyish thing anyway, which would more than likely make it only trailerable - thus presenting another dilemma.

believe me i have thought this through, and i just need to get rid of it while i can.

I understand the need for better gas milage. Think about the initial cost. If you sell your rig for $3000 and buy a $3000 gas getter will it be cheaper to maintain? Will the 10-15 mile per gallon difference translate into that buch of a saving? Will it be more or less dependable than the vehicle that you now own and know about? Will your insurance be less?
If you double your fuel milage then you save half of your money, but where is it going to go? If you only get 5-10 mpg better is it really worth it?
Besides how else will you be able to relieve all the stress of school if you get rid of your Jeep?
