They start them young dont they?

I think that young boy needs some proper parenting. A time out is certainly called for, but lets be serious, physical punishment just won't work.
No spanking is required if your a good and responsible parent. We need to talk to today's youth, explain respect to them, they will learn if we coddle them enough.

Feel free to delete that!!!!

I called my mom a bad name when I was about 8-10, I received a prompt spanking, and was left crying on the floor as if my life was near over. Woke up about 30 minutes later (after falling asleep crying) and went back to watching tv.
Never got around to cursing mom again after that!

As crazy as the whole stories seems, what would be in the news if the grandma had laid a hand on him to dole out some good'ole discipline?? People feel so badly for the family and feel the boy should receive punishment, but if he had received a spanking right there in the store, or hand been dragged into a changeroom/bathroom/secluded area of store... the grandma would have been in jail for assualt.

I for one am not afraid to spank my children if the need arrises.

Running out in the street or parking lot is an automatic pop to the butt. I think stealing my vehicle would be a just a few well placed "pops".....

One of my favorite lines from a Love and Logic course, "That is a price tag that is NOT affordable....)

I still cannot believe that a seven year old would behave that badly! Talk about coddled....

I look at it this way, I'm 26 and I got my dads leather belt 6 times. Yes I can remember them they hurt like hell. Guess what I earned everyone of them and understand why I got them. I dont hold it against my dad not one bit and I never did the things I got it for again. Whats wrong with that. I'm glad my dad did that. If not i'd probably be a democrat!

Hey, my family a bunch of dems! AND I have seen the belt!!

Now they REFUSE to lay a hand on my kids when they miss behave at their place. SO I have two spoiled brats anytime they come home from grammas.....

I just love how my authority gets undermined.....

Nope, you missed it, when my son or daughter really really pissed me off I'd say "I hope you have children just like you", they never got it at first, now they do..
:D :D :D :D :D :D
It's great being a grandparent, to you grandparents out there be sure to sugar them up before mom and dad pick them up LOL... Paybacks a bitch..

It is a bitch, but oh well...

We love our kids no matter how much hell they put us thru......

Besides, once 8:00 PM rolls around, mine are pretty worn out and off to bed they go!!

' physical punishment just won't work.'

I beg to differ.

I have two kids 29 and 25 years old.Between very young and about 10ish when they get me mad, I pull them across my legs, pull their pants down and let them have the flat part of my open hand on the bear ass a couple of times. I serve up firm descipline with a double portion of love.

Even today they both will say to their friends if "I do that thing my dady will not be happy wit me and will beat me;..."You don't want a beating from my dady".

Yes, when the dust settles, I always tell them why I beat them. And it is because I love them... continuing; There will rules for the rest of your life. Today, these are my rules, tomorrow it will be the rules fo the cops. Spanking today is a way of reinforcing tomorrow's rules.

no prob, I agree 100%, I may not have been sarcastic enough for you to catch I was joking in the first part tho.

I got spanked, my kids (if they misbehave) will get spanked and I am all for others spanking their kids if they see fit.
One thing that does bother me tho are the parents who yank the kids by the arm, or call them names when they are rude/bad in public.

anyway, the child in the article really needs a bit of discipline. I am all for ass tanning.

That's a grandparents job. They are still on the planet to spoil your kids. And Oh, is the payback wonderful. Why so you think they have those beautiful smiles on their faces when they hand the kids back?

I will say this, my father is better at keeping them in check than my mother. But as you say, "The grandparents job is to spoil the grandchild(ren)".

Tell you the truth, I don't think I would want it any other way.
