Have you served? Or do you take that freedom for granted? Wouldn't expect someone like you to be able to answer. You take your freedom for granted, therefore you don't appreciate those who are serving to provide you with it. But as long as you're dropping literary bombs we all thank you. Joker.

I read the thread. The question still stands. Freedom is guarded by soldiers, but that does not make them experts on it.

If he says he served, does that automatically change your view of him in regards to what he says about the world and what we should do with it. Have you never met a soldier who was a die hard liberal?
 
Labels bring disservice to any form of legitimate debate. Besides, my political allegiance or military service won't affect my core opinions. One of those opinions happens to be that environmental instability has the potential to affect our mid to long-term freedoms more than any other single threat facing us today. I don't know the exact level of this threat; it's been clouded by both sides of the debate. Al Gore would have us believe we're on the brink of the apocalypse while fox and friends would have us believe we're small, insignificant, and therefore incapable of impacting our planet. If we could remove the fog of war I suspect we'd find the truth lays somewhere in between.

Well, I appreciate the elaboration, and you make a very good point.

But that's exactly what irritates a lot of us skeptics. We can see that Gore is a self-serving, hypocritical blowhard, but the mainstream media always seem to repeat his absurdities as gospel.

We see that anyone who dares to point out the holes in his preachings, or the inconsistencies between what he says and how he lives, is dismissed as a "denier."

We remember the Nobel Prize he got for predicting a scourge of warming-produced hurricanes, a prediction that has been almost comically off the mark.

We wonder why, if all the greatest scientific minds on the planet are on board with this theory, there are no better spokesmen available.

Why this obvious fraud is regarded as such an unassailable authority.

There are liberals in every walk of life, even a few serving who live a paradox, and yes if he had served it would at least give him an iota of respect as opposed to the ivory tower liberals who use the freedom provided to them as a jumping off point into their own left wing wackjob ideals.

Not everyone serves, and last I checked we have an all volunteer force. Most members of the military could care less what someones political opinions are, minus the overthrow the gov't nut jobs.

I'm still trying to figure out how he has disrespected any service member? He has a different opinion that you.

How are liberal service member living in a paradox?

I'm always intrigued by the ones who spout off about has so and so served. Have you served?

Did I say he disrespected a service member? I looked back and didn't see that I said that.
I beg to differ, many service members care a great deal about political opinions, maybe not the younger people but that's human nature. Just look at the general feelings about the previous commander in chief and the present one, the respect or lack thereof of the present CIC is palpable in the forces because it's a two way street. When the CIC refers 3 times in a speech to a Navy corpseman as a corpse it goes a long way.
The fact that it's an all volunteer force only strengthens my argument.

As for myself, I'm done with this thread, just like in religion, you will never be able to get through to radical environmentalists, snowstorms mean global warming is real, so do hurricanes, tornadoes, and warm spells, it's a losing battle.

ct". I'm just trying to figure out what "respect" he doesn't have because he has a different opinion than you.

Most service members have a political opinion, but all the soldiers I know don't care what someone else opinions are. We do what we do so that they can have that opinion, that includes Urban and yourself.
 
The earth has been in a warming period since the last ice age started to receed, It stands to reason that as the last of the ice melts it would infact be warmer by a few degrees, causing the last of the polar caps to melt faster.

That said we will get another ice age following the complete melt of the last ice age
as this is a cycle they know the earth follows, Seems the media has overlooked this interesting fact.
I do believe we need to worry about the health of our air and water not the temperture the earth runs at.
