Going to tha rubicon on the 11th and 12th anybody want to go. I would really like to put some faces to names. We will be leaving friday afternoon and camping at Loon and going in Saturday morning.

Jeff

I cannot go 2 weekends in a row. How about doing Fordyce this weekend? We should be able to get a handfull of rigs together. Maybe even the Con, in and out if time permits or the entire Fordyce/Con during the 3 day weekend if we avoid major breakdowns etc.

already comitted for 11th and 12th.I got to finish up my steering this weekend.

How many people/rigs are you going up with? I just want to run with a good size group on the smaller side. Labor Day weekend is a 3 day weekend for most people so this would work out better for me, the trail would be busier to I'd imagine. Whos going either weekend? Right now I think it is Lee and his group, Billy, Phil, me etc on Labor day weekend.

I'll be up there. Our club will be beginning on Friday morning and usually finish up late Saturday afternoon. If you can get an early start, you're more than welcome to join us. The more the merrier.

Looks like we have 5 rigs so far 2 XJ's and 3 TJ's.

I may show, depends on how the work on my back patio is going. Gotta pour 9 yards of concrete at some point before the rains start up...........

Jeff, are you still in for the 11th & 12th with your group? I could meet up with you Saturday morning the 11th at Loon Lake. Who else is in for this next weekend doing the Con? It looks like we should have a good group. Dave, who is selling stuff off of his xj wants to do Fordyce during that time, you care to change your plans to do the Con instead? Fordyce or the Con are both awesome trails so I wouldn't mind doing either depending on what everyone else wants to do. I like going in a pack. :D

We may end up leaving the Bay Area around noon, which would put us on the trail by 5-ish. I think we're planning on camping near Ellis Creek. So far it's me, a YJ, and 2 CJ's.

Hope to see you there to and your posse of other jeeps. My CB is screwed up so I cannot be reached on it. I'm in a red Durabaked 2 door on 35" mtrs with a very bald 35" bfg mud on a silver rim. Hopefully Sam's Club has a 35" mtr in stock and I can get another 1 before the run.

When do you think you will hit the trail on Saturday morning? Where do you camp there? I know there is the long road right next to Loon and then you wind down to the stone parking lot where people leave their tow rigs. After the parking lot I know you hit some woods, Gate Keeper or alternate route through the woods, and then the slabs.

Do you kind of know what time you are leaving CH? You want to caravan up there if you are leaving early enough Saturday, like 8 a.m. or so? I want to make sure that we all meet up and go down the trail together. The Con is fun, but a pack of xj's is much better. Let's all try to hook up.

We should hit the trail around 5pm, if traffic is good. The two CJ's are trailered until El Dorado Hills, and then driven the rest of the way.

Ellis Creek is about 10 - 15 minutes after the top of the granite bowl. You wind through some fairly straightforward trail before coming to a port-o-potty amidst some trees. You have to cross the creek (not usually much of a creek) to continue on to Walker Rock and eventually the Little Sluice.

Just a reminder to all those planning to head up this weekend:

No doubt you have all been following some of the recent events concerning the Rubicon. Please (and I'm saying this for my benefit also) obey all signs, fire regulations, stay on the trail, and carry out your waste (human included). Wag bags for human waste management are becoming more easily obtainable, however, if you aren't able to get a hold of some before this weekend, hunt me down and I'll give you one.

My XJ is dark blue on one side and smashed up on the other on 35's. I'll be on channel big 6, small 10 on my motorolla talkabout. Hopefully we'll all cross paths...

Hope to see all you guys. I'm going to start the trail around 9 or so Saturday morning. Stoney are you unsure whether you can make and/or come at all on Saturday?

We are shooting for around 9 am to start the trail. We will be in the Loon lake campground. I am not leaving the bay area until 7pm so I wont get there until around 11 pm ( got to stop and pic up my passenger in SAC) so hopefully we can meet up in the morning.

O.k. Jeff, I'll leave my place in Sac around 7 a.m. Saturday and look for you around Loon Lake around 8:30-9 or so. I'm in a red (polyurethane ext) 2 door on 35's with a black roof rack and have a pair of black Lebaron hood vents. I'll keep an eye out for you. Your rig almost sounds like it looks like Poomba's rig I was behind on the Fordyce trail 3 weeks ago with the group, but a tad bigger on 35's. See you and your group there. I'm bringing extra front axles shafts, steering stuff, etc.
One more thing, where is the campground from the parking lot at Loon Lake? I know I turn off of Icehouse rd and head to Loon Lake. I just know of the long stone rd that goes right next to Loon Lake (the dam) and then you drive down the the parking lot and then the trail starts from there.
Troy

We will be in the camp sites right before the dam on the right......hopefully if there is space. I also have a motoralo talk about radio that I will be on channel 9 11 (Saturdays date). Cool I will keep my eyes out for ya Troy and I am bringing spare parts also.

See Ya Saturday

Jeff

Had a great time on the Con with you and your group. Man U didn't say that 2 of tj's were Rubicons and the other TJ was so built with the full width axles, atlas, 39.5" swapers etc. :D Bryce, Chris, Sarah, RJ, and I finished the trail at 12:30 after stopping on top of Cadillac Hill to eat some dinner. Man it was fun to run the entire Rubicon through. 2 months ago I came with some Yotas and we needed to camp at Buck Island and head back out through Loon because they trailered them. It was nice meeting you, I had a blast. I hope you and the group make it out safely today heading back out Loon. Let's do it again soon.
