They make a kit to install a Mercedes OM-617 turbo diesel in it. They are cheep and can be turned up quite a bit.

It's not going to be able to tow a vehicle. Ever.

Why?
Boilt a blower from a Pontiac Bonneville on it. That will throw a little boost at it and get it moving, build a tow package
Totally doable.

I would weigh the front of that thing before I tried stuffing a D30 in it.

What does the tag say it weighs? My motorhome weighs close to 19,000lbs loaded and towing my Wrangler. It has a 255hp 460 with 405 ft lbs of torque. It does fine driving on flat land. But the hills kinda slow me down.

So if the Campmanche weighs say 6000lbs and you flat tow your Comanche say 4000lbs= 10,000lbs and an 87 4.0 makes 160hp. I think it would be about the same.

Before the motorhome I towed a 5000lb travel trailer with my 3600lb Cherokee and it was fine. But like I said slow on the hills.
