I would perhaps be interested in a 23 spline version if the price was right. Actually can't one just swap the input gear to the transfer case so either 21 or 23 spline would work? Jeff

IIRC the input is part of the planetary so you can't just swap the input gear.

Sorry buddy. It is YOUR thread. As for swapping input gears on 231's, it is part of the planetary, but CAN be removed and replaced with a different one. There is a snap ring inside the planetary that is on the side that the input gear extends from. Remove this ring, pull the input gear and some thrust washers out and it is free of the planetary. Replace it with a different input gear of which there are a number of different options as shown here:

It looks to me like this will work just fine on the 4:1 setup since the larger part of the planetary gears is beyond the input gear. Again, I'm sorry for messing with the thread, however this small bit of tech might help you in the future...or not. Jeff
