I have a 1992 XJ with the 2.1 TD and want to do the same swap.
It would be nice if you maybe did a detailed write up some day.

Here in Norway there are still some XJ 2.1 TD in use.
I know several people who want to do this.
Maybe you could make adaptor plates and sell them ?

Nicely done. Did you have to rebuild the VW oil pan?

How does it feel with the new engine, is it much quicker/stronger?

it is much more stronger - on low RPMs it is devil
i can't say if it is faster... it is faster while changing gears, the time from 0 to 100 km/s is much shorter...
but it isn't faster... i haven't changed the gearbox, so it wouldn't be faster.
there is no need to change/rebuild the oil pan...
i was testing it already on hills and it is good

while driving 2.1 on low RPMs (on 3rd, 4th and 5th gear) the car didn't wanted to accelerate and it was shaking a lot...
also driving up hills (on-road) some times i had to reduce to 3rd gear...
now it is very good... on low RPMs on higher gears car still want to drive and accelerates...
up the hills i can drive o 5th or 4th gear all the way

if i want to accelerate i just press the gas pedal...
