Tech forum entry/password trouble

I'm having an issue trying to get into the member areas that require a password. I tried using the one posted in the Members Forum dated 3/14/04 with no avail. I am using Apple's Safari and Internet Explorer for Mac on OS 10.3.9, both accepting cookies but with no avail. The Chat only worked with IE for Mac, but still had trouble. Not sure who to contact.

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm a bit irritated and can't tell if it's something I'm doing or not doing or if it's the forum's website isn't written to fully interact with Mac-platformed browsers. I am very Macintosh literate and I think I have everything set correctly.

dont use the normal chat

use the chat to the left of that - VBchat is the button that you want

try that?>

explain the issue in more detail please. No, I do not have a Mac to try it with, so need you to explain what page you are trying to access, and what error(s) you are seeing.

If it is the Roster you are trying to get to, hold tight another day or so.
Thanks.

OK, I'll see if I can be more detailed.

When I use vBChat- two separate windows appear: one for entering text, and one allowing viewing previous text and users in room. Once the second window pops up with previous text entered, it never changes. You have to close it and enter text, or hit post with no text, and a new window opens with the text that is new since I last saw it. I assume this is supposed to work like an IM window would?

As for Tech Forums, Drivetrain for example, after I select Drivetrail (others are the same) a message reads: "vBulletin Message. Your administrator has required a password to access this forum. Please enter this password now. Note: This requires cookies!" After entering the password I get a message reading: "vBulletin Message. The password you entered was incorrect. Please try again. Note: This requires cookies to be enabled!" I've reset my cookies, and tried the username, password and even the Den password. Nothing works. Do I have access privileges?

I'll see if I can learn how to use a picture website and do a screencapture of my Mac's desktop so you can see the windows. Not sure if it will help as it may look different than the way our website would on a PC.

I thought a web designer said to me once that sites may be written in different code or language or something so different browers see it the same, like IE vs Netscape. Maybe it applied to HTML, or something like that. I'm an electrician, not a information technician!

vBChat may just not work with the browser you are using. You might try an alternate. I think there is one other Mac user here, so he may be able to help with that.

For this: " As for Tech Forums, Drivetrain for example, ..." please PM me a URL that you are trying.

If you are trying to use VB Chat on a mac, download the netscape web browser. It's the only one that works properly with the software...........

You can email me a screen capture if you'd like and I can take a look at it.
