tattoo

I'm pretty well covered but I think if you're here asking for suggestions you're going to do something you regret. Tattoos are for you to enjoy not for anyone else.

Stick - your tat made me wonder. Do you speak Japanese or read Kanji? I understand the sentiment behind the tat, but if people don't speak the lingo then why get a tat in that language? Along those lines, one of my friends reviewed enlistment contracts for the Marines for several years. One aspect of her job was to make sure the enlistee was good to go and that they had not been coerced into joining or promised things that couldn't be delivered. She also had to check tattoos and make sure they were properly documented, especially those that could be gang-related. In the past couple years, "Tribal" tats have gotten popular, but she always asked them what tribe they belonged to. Nobody had a good answer to that one, making me wonder WTF they were really thinking.

Don't get me started on guys that misspell their tats...:D

As stated before, if you do not KNOW it is what you want then skip it for now. When the right thing hits you will know it. If you even have one doubt don't do it.

I also seconed what was said about hsopping around. Visit every shop you can find. Check to make sure the conditions and hygene are up to snuff. Just as important as that make sure the artist is some one who stylisticly you agree with and whose talents fit the kind of work you want. Soem guys are great at bold work, other excell at shading, etc... Make sure the artist you pick has the skills to produce what you want to the highest standard.

Kepe in mind that a "real" tattoo is not goign to be cheap and it is goign to take time. Anything well done and custom is goign to cost you far more then picking a chunk of flash off the wal and having a marginal artist stick it on your arm. Find a good artist, discuss your ideas with him, work to a final design and then same your money.

i've got 8, and my most meaningful one is my wile e. coyote tattoo (REMI PLZ POST FOR ME!) just by looking at it, you'll understand:) Tattoo's are a very individual thing, some people love em, some dont. i've got one that i dont like anymore, and its taken me 6 months to find a guy to cover it up. turns out, i'm going with the guy that tattooed my wile e coyote and my wolf paws, so we'll see how things turn out! dont just go get something, sit down, talk with the artist, and have him draw what you want....also, if you let him have input and do some things that looks cool, a lot of times he'll give you a deal on your ink!

What do you mean just by looking at it we'll understand? I can be a bit slow at times...

I only have one right now, its a panther I got just for the heck of it. Not very meaningful, but I was 18 yrs old, fresh in the Marine Corps, it was Valentine's Day and I had nothing better to do while my buddy got his done. He went to distract the guy from going next door to the porn shop so our other friend could get first pick of the new stuff. Great story huh. :) One meaning I like to give people is that its a Black Panther, ie Black Panther Party. Mind you I'm not into all that but amongst my friends, we all laugh. I have a few more with actual meaning I want to get but I'm poor.

my first tattoo was a scorpion logo (surprise) though my second I put real thought into and got the one thing that means more to me than anything else, my heritage:

i'd suggest thinking of something along those lines, something that means the world to you and won't ever change.

my tat is of wile e. coyote holding a wrench and a flight helmet, and wearing combat boots:) wile e. coyote is an absolute GENIOUS!! unfortunately, he tends to go with the lowest bidder (sound familiar????) but the wrench and the flight helmet is what i do.....wrench and crew my aircraft:) and obviously the combat boots are for the fact that i'm in the military.....will get a pic posted shortly, hopefully

Where did you find your family crest? I have looked for the Johnson one.

I know there's a few of you that hate to hear me say it, but "Search" :D http://www.family-crests.com or Google for family and crest or heritage or heraldry - that last term is a key one. However, there may be multiple family crests depending which son or which part of the family is involved.
