T-Case question

So when i put my xj into 4 wheel to day it seams like the shifter is sticking up farther that it usely does it this possiable? And it also looks like the T-Case is starting to drop. Like i dont have a skid theres just that one litle metal plate there and it looks like the T-Case is starting to fall in the back? can this happen?

Replace the mount it sits on. Prob. broke and lets the t-case tilt back some.

I would check linkage first, there is an adjuster that does tend to come loose.

what adjuster? where is it at? And what do u look for?

Driver side of T-Case you will find the linkage. you will look for a square piece of metal that has a set bolt going into it and a linkage rod going through it. This may be what has come loose.

Well i looked under there and nothing seamed loose, you are talking about the pull lever that shifts 4 wheel in, the thing that goes through the body into the inside of the jeep right, im pritty shure what i was messing with was the right thing, and nothing felt loose.

Put a wrench on the bolt and see if it will tighten.....if it will you are loose and will need to readjust and tighten!

alright ill do that later. But i dont think anything is broke b/c i got under and messed around with somethings and nothing moved and the T-Case seams solid

If you have checked your linkage and all is fine there, then I would look at the transmission mount. Your crossmember is the piece of metal going across, uniframe to uniframe. It is held on by 3 bolts on each uniframe. The transmission mount is bolted to the crossmember by 4 small bolt coming down through it. If you remove the crossmember to inspect the trans mount BE SURE to support the rear of the drivertrain with a jack stand first!! It is possible that your trans mount has given up the ghost on ya and produced the condition you described.

This weekend im going to drop the crossmember and look at the T-Case mount and see if its ok. If thats ok, ill then drop the T-Case and look at the tranny mount and see if thats ok

The tranny & t-case mount are one in the same. Your t-case is bolted to the tranney with six bolts/studs and is supported by the tranny mount. Just support the drivetrain and remove the crossmember and you can see if the mount is shot or not.
