For the record, Tom Wood's now sells the AA SYE kit. What you're showing in the photo on the left is a shortened stock 231J shaft of his original design. My old style Currie small shaft SYE has handled 5 years of regular Moab trips, FWIW. Beefy is better, though.

I'm guessing that running 35's with 4:10 gears, no lockers?, loose, wet dirt over rock on a steep hill might have been a factor.........I'm also guessing a lot of skinny pedal was used here, by the look of the tires;)..................http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/242380/10
Just goes to prove that if you apply enough torque, something's gonna give.

for the record, Tom Woods still sells his original design too. i assume if you say tom woods sye you mean tom woods sye and not AA from tom woods.

i'm not doggin his shit. i realize it was a stock shaft just cut down. i'm just saying, why intentionaly go with the weaker design when you can shop around and find the heavy duty version for the same price.

and btw, my awsome LS actually was locked up at the time. there was really no spinning or anything. it wasn't even that loud of a bang. the loudest part was when i let off, rolled backwards, and the driveshaft thrashed my under carriage.

i realize 35's and 4.10's aren't best combo, but when you hear all the stories "my jeep on 40's has held up just fine for 47 trips throught the rubicon with the RE hack and tap sye" i sure didn't expect my output shaft to snap in a place like that the way i was driving.
