ok i have an 86 cherokee with a 2.8 motor 5 speed trany i have looked allover for the conv. kit all i can find is the 4.0 kit

The SYE conversion is done on the pinion output of your transfer case, your transmission shouldn't really matter. You need to determine which transfer case you have so that can get the kit that will work for you. There are threads in the Modified tech forum that will help you identify which one you have and then which kit will work and where to get it...
