Supercharging

I'm looking at improving performance in one of my cars (1989 Peugeot 405 Mi16), and am considering a supercharger as a possible route to take. This is a fairly straightforward vehicle in terms of layout (16V DOHC transverse I4, front drive) and while I know it'll have its own quirks in terms of installation it probably shouldn't be much different to, say, a Honda of the time.

What I'd like is to hear from anyone with experience in this area - not so much for specifics as relates to this vehicle (I know I'm on my own there), but more what I should be looking at in terms of selecting a supercharger, intake requirements, supercharger drive options, and so forth.

And no, I'm not looking at using any of the cheesy $129.95 eBay electric units. Something belt- or shaft-driven is the plan.

Have you checked out some of the Pug owners clubs in the UK and europe? The Mi16 engine's a favourite for modding, and I'm sure if you look up Revs or MaxPower magazines you'll find links to the info you're looking for. Nice car too: my first car was a pug in all but name (Talbot Samba with a 1360 twin carb), which shared its engine with the 205 GT.

Edit: try this for a start... http://www.pug-performance.com/links.htm
http://www.pugheaven.co.uk/T16.htm This is a nice article on the rare T16 - stock turbo 4x4. Mmmmmm.

Max Power's not a bad idea at all. I usually avoid it (never been into the whole boy racer thing, though it looks like I'm about to be), but will definitely pick up a copy. Most of the stuff I'm finding online relates to Mi16 engine swaps into 205 GTIs - quite a boost in performance for the 205, I'm sure, but not quite what I'm looking for.

Yup. Actually, I ran a Solara (I know, girly car... It was cheap) for a bit in college so have some familiarity with them. Quite a fun little bugger, actually. Bit of trivia: OEM Peugeot parts boxes/bags that we get here are still marked with the Peugeot-Citroen-Talbot logo.

Cheers for those, I'll check the links out later today.

I would kill for a T16. Apparently some Mi16x4s made it in here before Peugeot left - one was on eBay a couple of years ago, and they are listed in Peugeot's parts microfiches. But that with 250bhp would be unstoppable.
