Sundays LW run

A few of us decide to make a last minute trip to LW on Sunday. We met up 9am... Well, I was 15 mins late, but we got an early start to beat the heat. In fact, we had overcast sky's until we left the trail at around noon!!

We started up our normal spot near AmPm. We cruised through at a pretty good clip, hitting a few off shoots along the way. Here's Kyle taking the "easy" route, Dan heading toward the rock face that's seen between them.

We then headed up to the infamous water tank line... Videos to come

Great winch practice day too. I need bigger tires.

After that, we took a short break and had a drink, then continued on to "don't do it hill"

Here are a couple shots of Kyle heading up through "don't do it hill". I ended up having to make a new line through this area because I'm so wide, and darn it if I didn't get any pics of that! It was a fun line!!

And a little three wheel action by Kyle!! Puckered him up good I think! This was on the back side of dont do it.

After dont do it hill we hit a new to me loop. I'm calling this loop DTA, dans tight a**!! This trail is meant for a rhino or rzr or something cause it is full or 90 point turns!!

Sadly I didn't get any pics of DTA, I'm sure someone somewhere does...:wow:

After that, we headed to the rock garden where we, I mean "I", proceeded to get my self royally stuck!!

This is a new obstacle we made, had to winch a big ole bolder over in the middle of it, but it still ha a huge hole in the middle! I'm calling this obstacle "tattoo rock". I decided to take a winch instead of Risking breaking in the middle of this. I made it all the way to where it sits in those pictures, then just needed a little tug.

Which required the help of Kyle, who backed up through an obstacle, to winch me backward of the rocks I got my self hung up on...

Yes, I have some very bad habits I need to break before I hurt myself.

I plan to net the "windows" when I build the body panels. I'm hoping that will keep all hands and arms in the vehicle!

Just giving you a heads up, a lot of people don't think about it till it happens I've personally seen the loss of all 4 fingers on a hand twice, not even in rocks but a flop in soft sand.

better safe than sorry, keep those hands on the wheel :cheers:

We then ran into a FJ club near the landing strip... A friend of mine sent me pics they posted on their site...

And what trip isn't complete with a trip to your local pub!!

All in all it was a great day! I got to push some limits of my rig, Kyle found out his rear locker doesn't work, and Dan drove his pile home!!

Escondido is generally 4x4 (especially XJ) friendly. We have at least one EPD officer on this site. Awesome pics and vids Garrett.

I've put about 700 miles on it like this, just going on day runs, to places like calico, valencia, and LW. I need to make some mud flaps and replace the windshield so it is safer for everyone else on the road. :wave:
