Sucessfull roadtrips ... (aka New Jeep!)

PA Highlander

NAXJA Forum User
Well, I made a pair of huge roadtrips this weekend ... one brought the wrecked XJ home from RI to be parted, and the other brought a YJ in from MD! :D

The RI trip ended up being 26 hours long - left at 1 am Friday and got home at 3 am Saturday - luckily I had a co-driver. I also picked up a strange hitchhiker (CheapXJ) along I-80 at 4 am and then proceeded to leave him in Providence RI. :looser: Hope you got all your stuff home Ryan!

I'm now the owner of a '92 YJ that's already lifted 3" and running 31's (I'll have my 33's on real soon!). It has a 8000# Ramsey winch (motor being repaired), Detroit Soft-locker up front and by weeks end will have the Lock-Right from the rear of my XJ. She's geared with 4:10's and has the 4 cylinder and 5 speed ... I will be dropping in the 4.0L from the XJ at some point down the road.

Parts list for XJ items will be out within a week. I need to take a good look at the Highlander and see what's good and what I want to sell. It does still have a good title if anyone's interested.

Just curious where are are you getting the winch motor repaired? I have the rep 8000 with a broken magnet and cant find anyone local (ohio) to fix it.

Actually the fellow I bought it from is having it repaired at a shop in MD. I would think that any shop that repairs industrial electric motors would be able to do the repair. There is not much difference between a winch for your Jeep and one on a hoist.

Did that too. $282.00 for a winch motor. For a winch that is $399 new. Doesnt sound like they want you to be able to fix them when you break.

I just got back from RI yesterday

Looks like a nice rig...

So when do we chop it, dovetail it, cage it, coilover it, rockwell it, etc?

Well .... I am going to do a spring over and drop in the 4.0 from the XJ fairly soon! :spin1: Need some extra clearance and power to spin the 33x12.5's from the XJ. I can forsee a real cage sometime in the future too ... dovetail and rockwell's take money - of which I'm short on :looser:

huh?

dovetail don't cost nothin it's just cuttin and bendin!

as fer the rockwells...

well...

yeah.

Yeah, but the cutting and bending will require me to buy a bender, a new grinder, and a new welder ... not necessarily a bad thing  but no funds for that yet. :bawl: I really should build a garage first so I can do stuff like that in the winter.
