subs in xjs

I've got a cheap amp and a 12" Alpine Type-R in a Q-logic bandpass. Anybody want to recommend an amp? I care more about sound quality than LOUDNESS as I don't listen to anything besides hard rock, metal, and the occasional pink floyd album. :)
Is your 12" a single or dual voice coil? One thing that you will notice is that a bandpass enclosure are not all that great for sound quality, they tend to be boomy and have little tone quality.

I've got a JL 2-12w3 v3 box on a 500/1 JL amp. Then I have 5.25 JL TR's all around with a JL 300/4 amp. Running them on an old pioneer 670. Looking to upgrade the front to some JL C5 components soon. And the head unit to the new pio premier 600ub. Will hopefully have some pics up soon. Still havn't actually bought a camera.

It is dual voice coil. I'm definately going to be replacing the bandpass with a regular box when I get a new amp.

depending on what version you have of the type r you have . hey have a dual 2ohm and a dual 4 ohm. if you have a dual 4 then you would want a mono block that will put down about 500 watts rms at 2ohm, if its the dual 2 ohm you can either spend th money on getting a mono block that will run 1ohm or just get a 2 chanel amp that is about a 2x 125 and run that 4hom mono and that will give you that 40 to 500 watt range. I personaly use Infinity and Hifonics . I have used a few Audiobahn amps with great results as well and they seem to be pretty well built for thier price.

Very nice audio setup, I am lloking for one enclosure por the sub without damage on the OEM parts on rear....

Because you have the knowledge on Alpine´s stereos... I had the opportunity to see the CDA-9885 and it has a USB wire on the rear... also it comes with an extra wire for the IPOD which is connected to the special output like a CD player box and in the other end a special connector to the IPOD, the question is this, the USB wire on the rear is to be used with USB memories on MP3?, this model reads and plays USB memories with music?

Thanks

Slvrathlon, Is that a 10?
That's a pretty sweet solution to hiding the amp and protecting the sub. Did you have to cut out the cubby hole to clear the sub?

For some reason, looking at the pic, it looked like it was hidden by the enclosure. Now I see its on the other side of the cargo area.

Thanks.

Yup the amp is not hidden, but the windows are so dark back there it's not the easy to see in. I was going to mount under the drivers seat, but it was just a lil too big. I put the XM tuner there instead.
I then tried under the rear seat, but that didn't work either... so where it's at is where it's at. :)

Yes, that is a 10" JL W3. Box is a mix of Fiber and MDF of course.

Sounds VERY, VERY good.
