Stupid Painting Question

I just got a set of RuffStuff diff covers, and its beautiful out so I plan on painting them. A stupid question, should I paint the insides of the covers or will that come off and contaiminate the gear oil? Im probably overthinking this...

Thats what I was figuring, the oil coating should protect it from rust. And since painting the sealing surface is usually not a good idea...
