Straight Exhaust (No Muffler) ?

While it might sound good, you might keep in mind that a number of studies have established a link between noise and fatigue.

Hey Beezil

What does a statement like this remind you of??????

I run catalytic and tail pipe, no muff.

Sounds good but not loud.

Does sound like a boat at times though. :D

whats wrong with the straight through, less restriction is good

Yeah. If your running 181 mph at daytona. Backpressure is a nessesity to a certian degree.

Thats why all the ricers have smoke coming outta there rides. They've burned up their motors running fatty strait exhaust to sound cool.

BEING COOL IS EXPENSIVE.

I run a 14" glasspack with 2.5" pipe exiting in front of the rear wheels, Sounds good but I've been known to set off a car alarm or two before. Its not uncommon for people to come up and ask what kind of v8 I have in my Jeep.

I run nothing past the stock catalitic converter. I'm not disappointed with it at all but its not the ideal setup IMO. Its pretty loud when you stomp on the go pedal, but i can hardly hear it at cruising speeds. Never got a ticket or a warning... yet. I had the exhaust all the way back with no muffler but i actually found that for me it sounds better and resonates less with the tailpipe cut off. Might have been cuz it was loose and vibrated more? I'm not sure. I should get a turn down though. Everything is black where the exhaust exits, nothing melted though.

Personally I kinda like it, but would rather have a slightly quieter, deeper rumble sound.

I had a flowmaster 40 series on my 89 xj...it was pretty loud. im not using it anymore i used it for like 4 months its still in really good condition if you are interested I can sell it to you. flowmaster does improve hp to.

I´m a hunter and run a Dyno Max, have managed to crush just about every muffler I´ve had (stock/Edelbrock/Flow master), probably could have paid for a lift, for what I´ve spent on mufflers. Dyno Max is cheap, flows good enough and is reasonably quiet.
Don´t know what kind of hunting you are doing, but I hunt the same area often. Varmints, Fox and Coyote, will head for the hills in short order when they learn, the sound of your exhaust. Wild pigs will do the same. Amazing how much more game I see, just from changing the type (tone) of my muffler. Deer seem to rely on smell and sight, they will hunker down, but rarley run from a loud exhaust.
My butt dyno tells me that some back pressure, helps a bit with grunt (low end torque). A high flow exhaust, can help top end a bit and can save a little gas at highway speeds. Dyno Max seems to be a pretty good compromise and not a lot louder than stock.

Dodge didn't build 'em that way. Tore that muffler out pretty quick, huh? Oh yeah, I forgot, in Texass, you're all set with a good set of "pipes". he he

My dog occasionaly wolfs one down whole, he´s a squirrel hater too. I avoid them, they are protected here. A $500 fine. loss of your rifle as evidence and your hunting licsense. Over a hundred years of automobiles and the squirrels haven´t learned not to play in the street yet, little suckers are almost an endangered species here.

all you need...

I've got a 2" pipe coming out of the CAT to a 12" long glasspack resonator muffler (it was laying around the muffler shop). Sounds good, not too loud, the 2" helps with torque yet it still has more flow coming out than a stock 2.25" muffler setup.

Is that a fish hook on that reciever? Do you just back down the boat ramp and see what comes up?

I knew someone would mention that. its a temporary recovery point, worked well, usually tried to use the front hooks if I could though.

Glad to hear it was temporary, I would hate to hit that with my shin in a parking lot!

Umm...are you 12ft tall? Thats the only way that my hitch would be low enough to hit your shin on.
