Stolen: '87 chopped XJ

Guys, keep a look out for a black primer chop top '87 2 door with a CJ roll bar visible above the roof in the chopped "bed" area. It has a 3" lift and large radiused wheel wells.

I had talked to the guy about it - was for sale on CL for $500, but apparently someone wanted it for free.

It should stand out........ Report it to the cops if you see it.

In this pic, it's obviously tan, but he says he recently painted it black primer.

Yep. I just spoke to him via e-mail - said that it still hasn't been located. Continue to keep your eyes open guys, maybe we can help him out. He blew the engine in his other XJ and needs the funds that the stolen XJ would have provided to replace that engine.

Do the police even think it's still in the area?

I'm thinking it's been too long.
It's either chopped, or sporting a green/red/white flag.

Yeah, I told him it's possible it was already across the border....... but in my line of work, I've seen that it's entirely possible that it's in the neighborhood or within a couple of miles. Probably 60% or more recovered stolen auto are just a few blocks away.

I also told him that if he showed it to anyone while it was for sale, he should try to recall those phone numbers/e-mail addresses of the one(s) that looked at it and try to identify them as well. Follow up to see if anyone knows them on the boards or try to find an address and drive by and see if his parts are on their rig.

But, for a $500 XJ...... probably not worth all the effort.
