Hey guys, I recently picked up a '91 Grand Wagoneer and the first (and probably only) modifications to be done are the stereo. I have 2 different setups Id like to compare and see what you guys have to say.

The speakers in the vehicle are all 5 1/4 and I will most likely be doing components up front and coaxials in the rear.

The head unit will be an Alpine unit, most likely the CDA-9887

Im looking at either Polk MM5251 components and Polk MM521 coaxials
Components: http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/mm/index.php?s=mm5251
Coaxials: http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/mm/index.php?s=mm521#mm521

or Focal 130a1 components with Focal 130ca coaxials
Components: http://www.focal-america.com/category/speakers/
Coaxials: http://www.focal-america.com/category/speakers/

Im not really interested in any other speakers but will take suggestions for other sets/companies of similar quality. I have a preference for Alpine and Polk as I have great experiences with both.

Whichever set I end up with will either be powered by the Alpine Power Pack

Or the Alpine MRP-F300

Bass is supplied by a JL 8W7 hooked up to an Alpine MRP-M450 (I think)

My question is this, which set of speakers is better and is it worth the extra money for the actual amp rather than the Power Pack.

I stopped by an audio shop today and was suggested the Focal speakers with the actual amp over the Power Pack due to the small gauge wiring restricting the signal.

Price is not really a comparable factor as I might be going with Ebay for some of the components.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!
