Steering Wheel Swap and Aftermakret Cruise Switch

Multi part question here.

- Can I swap my nice aftermarket steering wheel from my old 94 (pre-airbag) to my new 96 (with airbag and updated interior)?

- Has anyone used an aftermarket cruise control switch in combination with the OEM Cruise Control system?

I’m more than OK with getting rid of the airbag in an Offroad rig for starters, but I am enjoying some of the creature comforts of the newer Cherokee and want to retain the cruise while swapping over my steering wheel from my old Cherokee. I thought I could get a aftermarket column mounted cruise switch and try and wire it into the factory harness. Any experience out there before I dig in blind?

PS: I plan on pulling the bulb from the dash to get rid of the airbag light if everything else works out.

I answered my own question with a YouTube video. There are a number of factors that keep this from being an easy swap. I’ll have to find another solution to this crusty whee of shame, which is a shame on its own.

Yeah, the 96 cruise buttons are a one year only set up and work in resistance values. If you can find a better place to mount the factory buttons somewhere on the dash you could cut out the clock spring and directly wire them.
