Steering wheel removal with air bag

I am wondering if anyone on here as removed their steering wheel and replaced it with an aftermarket wheel. I have an 01 Cherokee that I am thinking of swapping out my factory wheel for one that is sitting in my garage. I know that you can't buy an adapter kit because of the air bag in the steering wheel but does anyone know of one that would fit. I was also wondering if anyone has done this swap yet.
Any help or info would be great. I have done a search and I only come up with swapping for another stock wheel not swapping in an aftermarket wheel. Thanks.

it's been covered, try including "Grant" in your search terms, they are a popular steering wheel manufacturer. be prepared for lots of airbag legality arguments.

Technically, if yours came with an air bag, then you are not supposed to install a non air bag wheel. But, if you do, its easy. If you go with a grant wheel, then you will need the wheel adapter, spacer, and to trim down the plastic on the clockring..

I will add Grant to my search thank you.

I do know that you are not supposed to remove an air bag steering wheel when the vehicle came equipped with it. However I do not use it as a daily driver, trail ony.

Thank you very much.

IIRC, if it's a street driven vehicle there's a $10k fine for illegally pulling the airbags from the vehicle. Now if it's a non-registered off-road only vehicle, that might be a different story. I think the airbag laws are along the same lines as the emissions laws, but with the possibility of legally having them deactivated if you can prove that the bags will severely injure, maim, or just flat out kill you when deployed during a wreck.
