SRT-8 MJ

the engine swap and rear axle will the last mods i just want a nice looking DD that i will be building over a couple year span no paint doesn't make it a SRT8 the emblems were just something i'd was gonna add at the end of the project since its gonna be a street jeep w/ a V8

IMO throw a 99+ cherokee interior in it, grab a PCI gauge cluster out of a newer wrangler, get the FSM for your donor vehicle, and spend some time researching this.

If you sit down and work through the wiring diagrams you will be able to make a swap that is very clean.

I would also consider taking the transfer case out of a WJ and making the thing fulltime awd.

Smoke all 4 tires at once sounds fun.

I'm digging this, but instead of Hemi Orange, why not AMC Big Bad Orange? Check out this Javelin for inspiration;)

And here's the link to the page I found it on:cool:

Don't know if I'd use a WJ FT case, maybe a 242 out of a Durango (make a good drivetrain donor too.....hint...hint;))

and the 360/5.9L as far as I have read is actually slightly smaller than the 408/6.2. I'm probably wrong though, ha.

Kinda, usually the 408's are SBM based strokers, I think 360 LA blocks.

Please don't get me wrong, please build it. Taking it in steps is a good idea if you're strapped for cash.

I'm building a 2wd XJ, I get it. Lets see some pics of the MJ!

Not as bad as you might think. Plenty of pickups pull the front wheels at the track with the right suspension parts. On the street it can get a little touchy, about the same as a car with the same HP.

Meh, maybe its just me trying to suggest ways he can still keep it a "sport truck" and have it be some form of 4wd/Awd.

Always nice to see another FoCo jeeper. ;)

the truck interior is gonna be custom buckets seats and as for traction issues the bed is gonna have a steel plate in it to help weigh it down
my friend chris is helping me w/ the build ans well he has 4 ASE certified mechnics in his family and if the don't know it the come to him

the truck will be 2wd for clearence issues a 4WD CONVERSION is somthing i considered

Don't worry about it, you're automatically gonna be taking some flak for driving a 2wd lowered jeep, but at least it's a truck and will be useful still (unlike a lowered xj).

I like the idea, most people around here wont though, because the mentality is; "why would you paint a jeep before you do drivetrain upgrades, when the paint is gonna get beat to SH** anyways?"

Talk to wolfpackjeeper about it, I know he'll really like the idea too... he actually has a 2wd MJ that he wants to lower then drop a stroker into for a daily driver.

Oh, and kudos for staying in the (adopted) Mopar family, it's not your typical "SBC into a jeep swap," that are all too commonplace despite the mopar solutions (and even AMC ones) still being viable!

and its gonna be a Maaco Paintjob so im not worried the reason behind chooseing a Magnum engine is i had 93 ZJ 5.2 limited locked he up at 186k miles

i have a lifted MJ as well that is put to use as my work/ trail truck

Yeah, there's a ton of xj's up here huh? I'll have to take you for a spin in the MJ sometime if you're interested so you can see traction issues firsthand. :D

I've seen some of your videos from the strip, seemed to hookup alright.

I'll take you for a drive in the MJ sometime, so you can hear the sound of a alternator eating a battery while acid is flung around your engine bay.

WOW! it looks like you have room for 37's on that thing!

going 15x8 steelies on a jeep youre making a srt? may want to reconsider that and get some srt-8 rims. find a pair of a srt-4 or srt-6 caliber. same lug pattern as a patriot, get some adapters.

im starting w/ the paint and front clip first the engine will come later for now i need a DD when my Conquest is back up and running i will start the engine build up and yes a 408 will fit but it might end up being a 360

No the doorless mj is my 87 MJ 2.5I4 6.5 in lift ford 8.8LS Centerforce Clutch custom front and rear bumpers

im serious about this project but the engine swap is what gonna kill me i got layedoff my good job (thanks Bush) and im down to part time for the time being

and the reasons for the fox logos is i have named this project Fox
it will be a 2wd street truck
Doing a project in this economy on part time wages? Damn How much does that PT job pay? In all seriousness good luck with the build!

Please don't do Maaco if you're going to put that much work into everything else. Try and find a Hemi and 545rfe out of a WK, Ram, Charger, etc if you want to do the SRT badge, that way at least it'll be a Hemi.
