Engine:MPI Magnum 360 or 408 Magnum Stroker Dual exhaust w/ cutouts
46RH tranny w/ shift kit
Ford 8.8 with Posi 3.73 gears(coming out of my trail truck when i upgrade the axles)
97+ front clip and doors power everything (1st Major mod)
Rollpan
H4 Conversion headlights clear corners Upgrading soon
Smoke tinted windows
Hemi Orange Paint job(w/ ghosted in Fox logos?)
Bucket Seats
CRAGAR Series 365 Black V5 Wheel 15x8
SRT-8 Emblems....

Just do Hemi Orange no ghosted anythings. That would look awesome. And oh yeah do you have the parts or is this one of those "Here are my plans that are really just dreams" threads. Loose the SRT-8 emblems to.

actually, I am wondering if the block will fit and still be able to clear the manifolds. Thats a reasonably large sized block. Time to break out the tape measure and the sawzall...

Hate to bash on a newbie but this thread is worthless unless you are really serious. To me, you're not serious. An engine swap is a serious project, this isn't something you just put on a to do list. To see you put "tinted windows" and "SRT8 Emblems" on a list for a motor swap just drives home the point that you have no interest in a swap.

Prove me wrong, I'd love to see it, but I know first hand how difficult these projects are. If you want a cool looking MJ, do the windows and emblems, but if you want a kick ass MJ shoe horn a big motor! :)

Come on do it right, gotta get the axles and wheels from an SRT-8 too! Just kidding... sounds like a great ideal plan, just make sure you follow through and you will have one sweet little MJ.

newbie? So I guess we do not post anything unless we are typing it on our Bberry on the way to the motor shop to prove our seriousness? I have seen 10 posts today talking about should I do this or should I do that, from people who either do not have a cherokee yet, or are talking about maybe buying something 6 months from now. But you choose to hammer him for having a motor swap on his list of things to do?

Why does it matter if he seems serious to you? I have a motor swap on my to do list, do I seem serious to you? jeebus, he posted a these are my plans, what do you guys think about them thread, not a do you think I am serious thread.

i dont see why not, there have been a few 318 and 360 swaps

like I said, I am not sure. Time to break out the tape measure. The hardest part on the V8 swaps are not the block, it is fitting the exhaust. Especially on a 4wd. I think someone now makes a good set of block hugging manifolds for a SBC, but I do not know about a mopar set.

Sounds good to me, I agree lose the Fox logos. If you want an orange SRT version vehicle, I would suggest some sort of flat black incorporated; hockey stick, hood or stripes. Flat back on the raised part of the hood and black wheels on an orange MY would look pretty good. Will this be the doorless MJ?

Fox logos = no

and the 360/5.9L as far as I have read is actually slightly smaller than the 408/6.2. I'm probably wrong though, ha.

If you have the money, go for it! If not, don't forget your dreams! You can do parts of the build (ie cosmetics, rear end) without spending very much at all, you can even do the paint job but just leave out the srt-8 (and of course the fox logos) emblems until you can get the engine in.

Dream big, but make sure that you don't disappoint yourself!

Speaking of, you can't be serious...

I'm going to be honest, I'm selling this Moab wheel and Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo (245/75/16) because my friend couldn't mount the tire on the rim.

That sound familiar?

im starting w/ the paint and front clip first the engine will come later for now i need a DD when my Conquest is back up and running i will start the engine build up and yes a 408 will fit but it might end up being a 360

No the doorless mj is my 87 MJ 2.5I4 6.5 in lift ford 8.8LS Centerforce Clutch custom front and rear bumpers

im serious about this project but the engine swap is what gonna kill me i got layedoff my good job (thanks Bush) and im down to part time for the time being

and the reasons for the fox logos is i have named this project Fox

What does this have to do with the OP? Because my friend is having trouble mounting a tire on a Moab I can't point out a fantasy list which includes window tinting and emblems? Explain that, please.

The OP has already mentioned the engine swap is potentially the LAST thing on the list and paint is more important. Does paint make it an SRT8 MJ? huh...

the engine swap and rear axle will the last mods i just want a nice looking DD that i will be building over a couple year span no paint doesn't make it a SRT8 the emblems were just something i'd was gonna add at the end of the project since its gonna be a street jeep w/ a V8

Don't worry about it, you're automatically gonna be taking some flak for driving a 2wd lowered jeep, but at least it's a truck and will be useful still (unlike a lowered xj).

I like the idea, most people around here wont though, because the mentality is; "why would you paint a jeep before you do drivetrain upgrades, when the paint is gonna get beat to SH** anyways?"

Talk to wolfpackjeeper about it, I know he'll really like the idea too... he actually has a 2wd MJ that he wants to lower then drop a stroker into for a daily driver.

Oh, and kudos for staying in the (adopted) Mopar family, it's not your typical "SBC into a jeep swap," that are all too commonplace despite the mopar solutions (and even AMC ones) still being viable!
