squeeling belt when ac/fan is on!

i've got a belt that squeels loudly when the interior blower/fan and/or ac is on. if i shut off the climate controls while its squeeking it stops.
belt seems to be in good condition and tight...i think.
97xj 4.0L auto w/ac

any thoughts

tighten the belt.

Check for dust and debris from the AC clutch fan... it could be going out. The squeeling you hear could be it slipping, and not the belt itself...

check the idler pulley for smoothness and check belt tightness. had the same problem a while back.

I had the same issue recently too. Thought I had a bad compressor. It squealed so badly I thought the compressor was locked up. Tightened the belt, and all was ok again.
