So my rear main oil seal has gotten to the point that I can smell burning oil on the exhaust while driving around. Time to finally bite the bullet and deal with that unpleasant task.
And if I am dealing with the RMS then it is probably time to do the front cover seal too.
Yesterday I got to deal with this little speed bump:
And then today I found this:
I am crossing my fingers hoping there won't be a third surprise like this.
On the plus side, that broken guide/dampener thing and the associated chain rub might, just maybe, be the source of my mystery noise. That would be a long shot since the noise didn't vary with engine RPM. But maybe, somehow?
At any rate, it needed fixin'.
