I just got layed off as well - from the city of Oceanside. If I remember correctly, Oceanside was recruiting for either water or wastewater, not sure which - or what position. Google the city page and look for job announcements. Best of luck to you/your dad.

Nate have your dad check out BCwaterjobs.com

I'm trying to get into the industry myself. Does he already have an Operators Certificate or is he new to the industry?

If he is new he may want to check out the Water Utility Science program at Rancho Santiago College.

I'm a wastewater operator for OC so he'd need a SWRCB wastewater cert to work for us, I'd suggest he take the exam to give himself more jobs to apply for. Wastewater has a bad rep (not totally undeserved) but it tends to pay a little better and you don't need to collect CEUs to maintain your licence:D
If he did maintenance on the water side we do have an opening for a maintenance mechanic at ocsd.com.

REALLY ??? I thought the treatment side of the world was like the distribution side, actually more strict??

Good Luck to your pop there Dirt Bound... for me selling water in the desert has been a blessing.
