Terry,

Dayum! Is that Slaughter house in that pic? That's all kinds of dug-out now! I haven't been up there in probably 2 or more years.... I gotta get up there sometime!

Looks like a good time! That trail is on my list to do this summer.

That isnt exactly slaughterhouse. I believe it is crow hill, i might be mistaken though. Regardless, it is very close to slaughterhouse. That mud pit is pretty cool though. Nice pic! How were the conditions on the trail? Still snow on the ground in some areas?

i think technically that area is part of crow hill, which is just another option once you reach
the bottom of the slaughterhouse trail. basically just a mud pit playground. ;)

slaughterhouse itself did have some snow/ice on parts of it (primarily the steep hill): in fact,
when we were descending the hill there was a full-size truck at the bottom that had broken
the front driveshaft and had zero chance of making it up the hill in the snow. after a bit,
he got winched up enough to get traction to back down safely a ways and clear the trail for us
while his buddy ran back to town to get a new shaft.

not a trail that i would do very often, but i like to get out there at least once a year...
at least there are some twisty/moguly sections that are good testing grounds for flexing.

yea that steep part is scary when you have ice on it. especially with antilock brakes. I almost tipped my s-10 on the other side, goin up the moguls. Thats about the time i said F! independent suspension, and decided to get a new vehicle.

Man, do you and I have a few things in common! I too had an S-10 ... a '91 to be exact. I had the 3.5" Rancho lift and hated having to replace lower ball joints and idler arm every few months.

Then, when I got my first XJ, I took it on it's maiden voyage to Slaughterhouse in early May. That steep downhill was solid ice under fresh snow..... halfway down, I slid off the trail up against some trees. Had to leave it overnight until I could buy a come-a-long and some straps to get it un-stuck the next morning.

My 4wd wasnt workin cuz i mounted the vacuum canister wrong for the front diff.(whoops)... that's my cousin's ZJ. Im goin wheelin with my cousin this Sunday. Not sure where yet, but i will prolly make a post.
