Sky Ranch Road question

I was looking at the USFS web site, and it says Sky Ranch Road up to Fresno Dome is closed. Does that mean there's a gate, or they just don't plow it so drive at your own risk? The reason I wanted to know is my club, Mid Valley Fourwheelers out of Merced was considering heading that way for our snow run on Saturday. Hopefully there will be snow that low.

Sky ranch road is not closed, its just not plowed, been there twice this year....I wouldn't go alone and air down your tires as safely low as possible.

This is was at the end of December, much less snow now I would imagine.

Hmmm. I guess I haven't been here long enough to get this. Or perhaps there's a bit of drink posting going on. . .

Anyway, thanks Joe. I'm not sure exactly what elevation Fresno Dome is, but the weather people say it's supposed to be snowing at 7000 feet and above, which should continue into Saturday. So, we'll see.

We probably wouldn't go to Bald Mtn. It's a bit farther away for us from Merced than the dome. We do have our annual fun weekend there though.
