So I go to get some lunch and come back at 11:33 to my work. Park right outside the north/west side of work as I always do, along with a dozen other fellow co-workers. Completely visible to other businesses around the neighborhood and exposed to anyone driving by.

I periodically throughout the day, go to my Jeep and take a break. Today however was our in-service training day and was in a class from 12:00 TO 1:00 and after class I saw my Jeep from the street as I was walking back to my building and didn't see anything to strike a concern.

3:45 I leave work and walk to my Jeep passenger side first as I put my sachel on the passenger seat. As I walk up to it I noticed my dash panel is pulled back and on further examination I see my stereo is gone. I look in side and further discover my center console has been emptied except my car charger for my cell and deposit slips for my bank. I go to the other side and see my padlocked toolbox is missing from the back. I come to the drivers side and see they popped out the latch for the wind wing and opened the door that way. They tried to take my Sirius window bracket but left it there as they popped out the rubber suction cup. They attempted to take the CB but either could not take the thing off the mount or got interrupted.

Worst part is they took everything.............even the silliest items.

List of lost goods;

Orange toolbox with all my trail tools
Kenword CD receiver unit
Faceplate for kenwood (stupid me I left it in the console when I came back from getting lunch as I had my hands full)
Sirius plug and play receiver
Remote for my Sirius receiver (which was in my sun visor pocket/CD thingy)
BUCK hunting/camping knife
GARMIN eTrex HC GPS (wrapped in my iron cross beanie hidden in my console)
Trailhead Tire Deflators (do they even know what they are?)
Dash Cigarette lighter (you got to be kidding?)
Brand new pack of Marlboro 72's ultra lights (seriously?)
Camel Snus wintergreen (half empty..........really seriously?)
Bacon flavored sunflower seeds (half empty, you seriously took a mans sunflower seeds?)
8 pack of Pepsi's (only 4 left out of the pack......that is way over line man!)

I called the Denver PD and I know they are busy, but the response was.

Is there blood anywhere?

No

Is there evidence of finger prints?

I can not see any, but they were all over my Jeep.

Any direct witnesses?

No

Come to a sub station or go online and fill out a report...............

great, but if I find my orange toolbox with a guy smoking my cigs and drinking my pepsi I am bludgeoning them to death with something...............

Damn dude... sucks to hear that that had happend. Reminds me of the time that I had gone to my sisters apartment for dinner one evening at about 9ish. 10 minutes later I go back out to the jeep and find that both drivers doors were open. Took a look see and they didn't take my nice alpine cd player. All they took was 2 packs of marlbro reds and 2 or 3 packs of the camel snus that I had in my center console. They didn't take anything else... so I figured I would drive around the complex and see if I couldn't find people going around stealing stuff. No luck. I was ready to beat the ever living snot out of someone.

That sucks man. You should see if any of the businesses around your work has surveillance cameras. It would be easy to spot someone walking down the street with a orange toolbox.

HOLY CRAP!!!!! I thought you were unemployed when I read the title.

Sucks about the theft though. I think there may be another wing window at the junkyard.

Nothing more invasive to us jeep guys than finding our rigs have been either stolen or plundered. It can make a docile man homicidal for sure.

I've got your wing window replacement if you need one Matt - gratis.

I still think I may have to hunker down and get serious about designing and marketing my auto theft deterrent device idea........ A seat cover that has a several points of contact to deliver a tazer-grade 30 second shock to the unfortunate fool that sits in the seat it covers...... and doesn't have the key fob transmitter that disarms it when the owner is near or in the vehicle.

This way, the crook gets some really unpleasant treatment........ and may very well still be incapacitated and in the car when the owner's key fob alerted them to the activation of the seat cover tazer.......... :D

I have another twisted idea in my head on taking a matching lower seat section and fitting the foam with 50 hypodermic needles just below the fabric surface pointing straight up. You modify your seat by removing the bolts that hold the lower seat section in place with a set of simple 1" pins in their place so that the seat section will stay in place, but lifts right off. Then, when you leave the vehicle sitting somewhere, you swap the seat sections and ........... hope you get to hear the screams......... :firedevil: Ya just gotta remember to swap the seat section back for yourself.......

Better make the seat cover tazer water proof:D

There actually was a company a couple years ago that introduced a product
that would zap the shit out of someone trying to enter the vehicle , but criminal law suits put that one down . Seems if they hurt themselves whilst
steeling your shit they can sue you for medical expenses ...

I think we all know my stance on carrying out punishment for sh$t faces .

Skully , it seems being that they took a GPS device you think harman could
track that device , or at least once its activated , I have never owned one
so I don't know , they have those features on some factory made units .

likewise... at least you're not part of the unemployed statistic!

If you have homeowners or renters insurance, bear in mind vehicular contents are often covered. Check your policy. Not that it makes it any better that some shitheel was pawing through your rig, but at least it takes some of the sting out of it...

Damn Matt, really sorry to hear about your situation!! I will keep my eyes peeled for your stuff though I doubt it would make it this far south. Sadly most laws favor the criminal these days! I am curious as to how these asshats did what they did with your rig where it was and no witness? Did you try asking around if anyone saw something?

Damn dude...sorry to hear about that! Seriously though....sunflower seeds and a half a can of Snus?? I guess I got lucky....had some little bastard break into my old Zr2 Blazer about 2 years ago. I was sitting in a friends apartment around 11:00 at night...heard a horn start honking. Looked out and saw my lights flashing...ran outside...and found my drivers door window busted out.

My glove box, and center console were wide open....but yet, the dumb fawk didn't steal a SINGLE thing!! I had my Ipod, Palm Pilot, Check Book, about $20 dollars in cash...a HUGE book of CD's in the back seat, my Oakley's, etc...and the little bastard didn't take ANY of it!?!?!?! Why go through the trouble if you ain't gonna take SH!T?

Could have been vandalism. My window got busted out by some drunk retard from a local state college about 6 months ago. They hit it a couple times and missed, so there is a big dent in the door right over the window and another that landed right on the seam between the front/rear doors, as well as dents in the trim around the window. They busted up 4 other cars on the same street, took nothing from any of them, just being dickwads and breaking shit.

:flamemad:

The most expensive items were my tools, tire de-flators, and my GARMIN GPS (that was not even six months old). ..........the more I think about losing those items the more torqued about the whole thing I get.

I cannot even change a tire right now without calling my dad to borrow his tools.

The stereo was a Kenwood cheapy for $100 a couple years ago, and the Sirius was a plug in hanging off the window for $69.00. I called Sirius and they tagged the ESN for the radio as a stolen item, but seriously what can they do? They want people to subscribe to their service and I doubt they would deny activating it.

The one thing I get some satisfaction about is the idiot(s) did not grab the base for the sirius radio that was hanging off the windshield. As I mentioned in my first post they popped off the rubber suction cup and left it there as well as the antenna. The sirius unit is worthless without those two items. They can buy those items separate, but will cost them more than the whole package cost in the first place.

There was also other cheap items like my rig camping knife I have had in three different Jeeps, and owned for the last 18 years, my little LED flashlight in my door pocket (they missed the other one in the passenger pocket.) my iron cross beanie???? come on idiots..........however the fact they took my OE cigarette lighter, cigs, snus, pepsi and sunflower seeds is just pitifully stupid and shows what idiot(s), low grade lifeforms, and arses this/these people were. These items were not mixed in with the good stuff they were separate and in their own cubby hole. I am sorry but I am not using another mans sunflower seeds I do not know.

The place I work at is a huge campus, two blocks long and one block wide. We have camera system but not aimed to the area I and a dozen or so other employees park. We have 100+ staff on campus at any given time and no one saw a thing except for one of my friends, a staff from the school who said he was walking back with other school staff and they saw a dark green stratus or Chrysler 300 parked next to me with a Hispanic looking gentlemen for a brief period but they saw nothing of concern. All the employees step outside to smoke or take a break every half hour where I parked and was visible from our seniors center door and where dozen people come to pick up or drop off participants. The business across the street is not very active but I always see employees there out and about.

I am not the first employee to have they car broke in to, but I have not heard from employee announcements about thefts in the last year. However I work off of a not so beautiful area of Denver, if you know where the Grizzley Rose is you do not want to be around there in the dark without being armed.

I just needed to vent and rant so thanks guys for the wellwishes.

Thanks for the offer Yella, I will PM. It looked like they used a flat chisel or painters tool and knocked off the outside of the latch then pushed in the latch and opened the window wing.
