Should my XJ have a 249 transfer case??

Ok so I've been very busy and hadn't had any time to mess with the jeep, but the past two days I've been working on getting my transfercase drop in and took a minute to study the transfer case. It appears that based off of the photos and descriptions that at least the rear of my case is a 249. The output housing is held directly to the case with 4 bolts not a two piece like the one shown on the 242. But I also have the front shaft out and I can spin the front output of the case freely. So not sure how I could have a 249 case that also seems to have select track???????

either someone has bolted the rear half of a 249 onto the front half of a 242 or, someone simply switched the data plate... it is just a phillips screw holding it on.
