I am posting this for a friend. He has a 92 XJ and wants a 2" shackle lift in the rear. Doees anyone make a 2" shackle?? He is doing spacers up front and doesnt want blocks in the rear. Thanks DJ

rock krawler and rough country

Type (2" lift shackles) into search and read away. There are some out there but buyer beware: call ahead and verify they are true 2". Many advertise 2" but are not. Also make sure friend is not planning on using lift shackles on stock non HD leaf springs.

i'm currently selling these........$50
Rusty's 2.75” (not 1.5") their labeled and sold as 1.5" shackle, but they measure 2.75" hole to hole as pictured
these have poly bushings, and are greasable. ran them for maybe 8 months.......in good condition.

rock krawler sells a shackle that has holes for both 1.5 and 2.5 inches and they are pretty nice

Shackles lift half of their extra length, so a shackle that is 3" longer than stock will provide 1.5" of lift. For a 2" lift the shackle needs to be 4" longer than a stock one.

On lift shackles if they are 2" longer than shock you get 1" of lift if they are 4" longer than stock you get your 2" of lift.

So on the Rustys shocks above they are advertised as 1.5" lift shocks because they are almost 3" longer than stock.

On shackles you only get half of the difference worth of lift.

I was thinking about puting some shakles on mine because I want the rear to ride little higher. What is wrong with putting them on a stock leaf pack? trying to learn. thanks!

I've been using rough country's 2 inch shackle for 6 months now no problem. very beefy, cheaf and adjustable to make it a 1.5" shackle if you'd like.

Stock leaf packs are known to sag prematurely on thier own. Add an extended shackle and you speed up this process. (In a nutshell)

Notice your stock pack only has one long leaf at the top. Buy using a lift shackle your putting more weight on that sole leaf and theres nothing there to support it.

I have teraflex's 1.5" lift shackle on stock leaves on my 99. I've had on about a year. They lifted the advertised 1.5 inches at first, But for some time they have been sagging. My rear end is now just a few millimeters higer then my fiance's stock height 96, which also appears to have just slightly sagged springs compared to other xjs. So I'm probally back around stock height with a full tank.
The longer shackles put a little more leverage on that end of the spring. I plan to do a sorta bastard leaf spring soon, with some new HD leafs from quadratec and mine if usable, junkyard ones if not. These should hold up a little longer, or at least till I can afford to go higher. I am keeping the shackles on despite the spring issues because it has flexed a little better in the rear since the install.

Don't worry I pretty new to this too. Especially compared to alot of these experts on here, alot of these guys know more than the old guy down at the local Jeep dealership( And everybody says he's the guy to go to for anything mechanical).
