i think i might just call endangered species jeep tommrow and see how long it would take them to put it on... 50 bucks an hour w/ free tire alignment and i wont have to deal with lifts or jacks or my jeep falling apart...

 hey now I gave ya great info onhow to DIY and you are gonna pay someone to do it now..

what happens when you decide to

before i build up to the 4.5'' that I want and eventual 33's. .

well you might as well get a price quote for the lift while you are there!

seriously..
Do the install get to know your XJ, if you do the BB youi will be able to do the lift with prolly minor problems
and some experience..
Start turning wrenches now and you will save yourself ALOT of cash in the end run..

Unless of course you have more money than time..
I myself have more time than money.

BTW
you cant really pay someone to build ideas for a killer rig

this guy spent $15,000 on this rig

do you have any idea what a shop would charge to build this?
You might be saying I dont want (or will ever want)anything near
that ..But ya never know;)

Like Vegas A. said, do it yourself! The things I would worry about are: do you have a place to work and do you have the time to install the parts?

You can do each end on different weekends, maybe the rear first so you can have that dragster look for a week, then the front.

I would suspect that the shop will want 4 hours to do the job, so you'll need to balance the $200 cost versus the cost of not knowing your rig as well as the person who built it.

I think the risks of messing something up are far outweighed by the costs of having something break on the trail and not knowing what it is or how to fix it.

I would just use bar pin eliminators with your stock shocks or some stock sized cheapies from Monroe, etc. The BPE's will give you an extra 1" or so, making up for the lift.

You will need longer travel shocks for your 4.5" lift plans, so there's no point in investing $ in temporary shocks.

Really I would think on how long the BB is gonna be on.

my thoughts are start searching the net and find the cheapest price either procomps or skyjckers..
I found skyjackers hydro's for about $26 each online printed it out and took it to my local 4 wheel parts store (they pricematch) picked up 4 for less than $100
not bad for 4 new shocks ..just make sure that they install the barpins in em for you(they are a pain in the arse without a hydro press)ohh and they have two sizes in the packs so make sure ya get the right ones on em(usually helps tho take the old ones in with you ) and lastly most of the time they have to be ordered.

I dont think that $100 is too much fro a new set of shocks ..Seems like a waste to limit the flex of his new lift for the price of new shocks..

my spacers came today and i called my friend who works at the Mobil shop... hes gonna help me put it on and were going to use the air tools there and the lift there.. plus, hes a certified tire tech so he's throwing the tires on and aligning it all for me.. for free! were good buddies from school, but if all goes well I slip him 50, although he just wants to do it for free.. now I just gotta keep puttin PB blaster on haha

For the front couil spacers I had to use coil compressors I rented from AutoZone, I thought they were safe and sped up the process a little. I couldn't get enough droop out of my axle to put in my spacers and springs.

How much did it cost to rent the compressors? I wanted to do the same and was told that autozone rented them but not how much. I am currentlly running 1.5" lift shackles in back w/ no lift in front, need to fix that.

Oh yeah, exhaust may need bent or cut off with your 2" lift shackles, ChandlerXJ. I had to cut mine off with 1.5". I could have probally bent it but I was pissed at the time cause I broke all 4 lower shock bolts as weel as 3 drill bits and a tap when I tried to tap new threads in thier place. So...I'll just get an exhaust shop to weld on a new tip later.

I also think I probally should have the pinion angle adjusted with some shims, as my leaf springs look a little funny, like thier being pushed down too much from the rear w/ the lift shackles on. Does anybody else have a simalar expeirience?

I have all the parts today, there seems to be bushings and like a bolt sleeve, I don't know how to assemble it, but I will post pictures tonight when i get out of school and we'll figure out how to throw this together. These shackles are big and have holes for 1.5'' and 2''... if i use the 2'' it seems like i'll get more then 2'' just by looking at it... plus my 2'' spacer is almost 2.5''

I think they were a $50 deposit.

Instead of slipping him some money have some good pizza, beer, wings or something delivered to where you're working. Most people wont accept cash for helping a friend, but everyone'll partake in a good meal.
