does the longer rear eliminate need for shim or do i need to swap it over?!.,....
thanks guys

...meaning use an angle finder to see what your driveline angles are. I can't recall whether you've done a SYE or not. If you have, you want your pinion angle about 1-2 degrees below your driveshaft angle. If you don't have an SYE, you want the pinion angle 1-2 degrees below the angle of your output shaft. At least that's what I recall...

When I went with a 2" extended shackle it definitely pointed my pinion up a bit.

SYE/CV & conventional are different. CV basically the output of the pinion literally aims at the output of the transfer case. Conventional ujoint the pinion and output of the transfer case is suppose to be at an imaginary horizontal line without being too far of an angle at either end. I think that is what Jawa was talking about.

Borrowed from Tom woods website;

Driveline 101

Running Teraflex 1.5 shackles put me in a perfect position with 3.5" leafs and "1 transfer case drop.

My input :looney:

Sho nuff!

in4aride - There are a gazillion articles on here about how to measure driveline angles, what the angles should be, how shims or a transfer case drop affect them, etc. The Tom Woods link Skully provided is a good one. If you have a couple of hours to blow, you can blow them researching this stuff real easy... Ask me how I know. :D
