Does anyone know if there is a place or a person around the bay area that would be able to "teach" me how to setup gears? I dont want to have to deal with paying all the $$ for labor on my next axle swap for gears. Try not to bash on me too hard for posting this, i know what im doing with cars so dont think im some idiot that has no clue whats going on. I am really just looking to follow someone through the process of setting up gears in an axle, sort of like an overview i guess you could say. I guess i could pay for the time spent if anyone is intersted.

CRASH does gear installs, and let me watch. I learned some, but there is no substitute for practice, practice, practice. You could have him setup your diff, and I'd bet for a lil extra cash (or maybe just beer) he'd take it slower and really talk ya through it. He's got a thread he posted in the Sierra chapter section a while back, I think he charges $150 for most diffs, and $175 for an ARB. He's also got a D44 lying around for a great price if you wanted to buy that off him and have him gear/lock it.

I 2nd having Crash (Andy) set up your gears and/or buy his xj 44. You will not be disappointed. I cannot believe someone hasn't gotten his dana 44 yet and had it built by Andy. The price and quality are great. :)

Rawbrown (Ryan) in San Diego does a great job too and his prices are cheap, go to him if you don't mind the drive. I did. :laugh3:

If by xj 44, your referring to the rear, i already have an 8.8. What i need is a cheap narrowed hp 44 (yeah right) or just run a lp waggy 44. Ill pm crash when i find a deal on an axle. Thanks for the help
