You've done a great job prepping that rig. I sure liked the '96 Red one that donated a few accessories to your blue XJ. All of your XJ's are sharp and well built.

Do you have any pics of the red one as it looks now?

Here is the old trail rig, my 96, it has 100k on it. I'm getting it ready for my soon to be driving 15 year old. It has the axles and T-case from the blue rig under it(242 and D-35) This pic was taken last week.

Thanks, no I went with the 29 spline 8.25, I had enough of those 8.8's when I raced 5.0 Stangs. I blew them things up left and right. The 8.8 is a good axle, I just have a bad taste in my mouth from that rear end. I have had good luck with the 8.25 so far(fingers crossed!)

thanks man, they love it (traded an 87' twin turbo mustang for it). Couldn't really take them for a ride in it. This is way more fun (to me) than the mustang was!

Bought them from a company called DesertFab. The are no longer in business. They're 3/16 thick. Great for bouncing off trees or other vehicles

Unless you're thinking of a different DesertFab, they most certainly are still in business. I should know, I live 4 miles from them.

Well I guess I should post in here. Here is my work in progress. The axles are currently out cause they were getting regeared and locked. I just got them back last night and they are going in on Mon.

Here is my 2000.
Just finished putting the RE 3.5" Super Ride on it. The wheels are off an '05 Wrangler, and the tires are from Treadwright. By the way, I have about 400 highway miles on them, and they are awesome. Such a great deal. Other than that, its pretty much stock. I'm planning a big trip to Colorado for this summer, so a tire carrier and recovery gear will be on the list next.

i love the silver XJs my wifes looked like this when i got it for her. then she killed a mustang with it. now its kinda multi colord till she deploys to iraq. ill have like a year to repaint it.....cali orange. good lookin ride man

Interesting to see another XJ with a Trail Rated badge (yeah yeah, I know it's not needed...save it) in the same spot.

I have no problem with the Trail Rated badge (I've heard it all too). I put it on there because I trailed rated my rig myself (it sounds silly but it works for me). Plus DC was mailing them out for free a few years back, plus I liked how it blended in with my paint scheme.
