I am leading a group of about 40 rigs up to Flagpole (NoVA Jeepers Assoc) in the morning. Flagpole is just west Harrisonburg. You guys gonna be this far north?
If so I hope to see you up there.
We had a great time. A little early for peak color, it was our clubs annual fall foliage rid, but there was enough brown and red mixed in with the green to qualify for fall foliage.
NOVA Jeepers is an all Jeep club (mostly JK's now with the odd XJ or TJ) but we had a Land Rover show up as an invitee of one of our club members. I tucked him in behind me. Bone stock. I spotted him on anything even remotely fun let alone challenging (very little that is legal is challenging in GWNF). Sort of like a stock XJ on 27" tires, at least it had a solid front axle. Pin striped it pretty bad but that was the only "damage" anyone suffered.

Wheeled Flagpole with my Jeep Commander friends last year. Nothing too difficult but a nice place to trail ride and camp out. I drove my XJ(far left). I'm not ready to pinstripe the XK yet
I'll be checking to make sure there wasn't any patent infringement with those doors, but I'm fairly sure Shorty didn't copy anyone's design. As a matter of fact, I was there when he got snooted in his living room with a roll of blue painter's tape and the VDOT/Commonwealth of Va requirements for inspection.
well the weekend is over and only one third of us made it out of the woods. got a full two days of wheeling before anything broke. our newest xj owner found his 97 decked out with all the right equipment from UCA's to front and rear JCR stage 4 bumpers. hell of a rig for only 3500 bucks. but when it came down to factory equipment, not so lucky. during a climb, he heard a loud *ping*, then the check engine light, then engine shut down. turns out the motor mount sheared from the block and hit the distributor, snapping the distributor stem. we were able to get it back down the hill. i had to work today so i came home and the rest of the crew stayed behind to get the motor running again. no cell signal in them mountains and i have not yet heard from them. but they do have one rig thats still movin. hears a few pics before all hell broke loose.
climbing the Appellation trail
small town gas station with old pump
just a little flex action.

Mike (Baby Bird) and his 97 moments before his motor mount sheared.
