SAS swap for Xterra

Hey there, question for you folks. I'm in the early stages of a SAS swap for a 2001 Xterra. I had a moded 93 XJ up until a year ago (yes I miss it ...bad) and ran 33"'s with no breakage. Right now i'm considering an XJ D30 swap to rid the X of its IFS. I plan on running 33's on the Xterra. I like the coil/link-arm suspension on the XJ so I intend on using a similar setup.
Question is: Will the D30 hold up with 33's on an Xterra? I believe the Xterra is a tad heavier in the nose than the XJ.

I know it possible because there is a guy running that set up with a long arm kit on his Xterra.. I dont know if he is running a d30 or a d44 I would have to track him down to take a closer look..

yeah i've seen it before too, but why not go with a 44? your gonna have to fab it up anyway.... bolt patterns won't match with a 30 but you'll give yourself more options with the 44. (i.e. bigger brakes, manual hubs, let alone the strength issues) a d30 will hold up though

I suppose i've been leaning towards the XJ HP D30 because there are so many out there. Also looking into the D44 from a Wagoneer. Same bolt pattern as the Xterra.

I dont know much of anything about Xterras. Although I thought I heard it was not possible or just a real bad idea to lift an xterra. Or maybe just not without a lot of problems. Are these things just as easy and accessable like XJ's are. or is there a lot of homemade fabrications

Have you seen this? http://www.purenissan.com/solid_axle_swap2.htm ?

I think it uses a scout 44.

the calmini kit uses a Wagoneer Dana 44 from an 80-85??? with out the vacuum-disconnect. the Calmii kit is the only one out there so it's expensive and it's only for the front. they offer springs and shackles for the rear at an additional cost. the kit uses radius arms and is setup to use dual-rate coil-overs which cost $1100+ a pair including springs and spacers. if cost is an issue, you should also swap out your H233B rearend and replace it with a rodeo 44 with disc-brakes. a little fabbing is required for this since the rodeos with discs are also linked, the xterra has leaves. plus, the H233b (which is extremely strong---33 splines, 9.25" ring gear) is extremely expensive to gear ($500+ for a ring and pinion set) and there are only 4.88's and 5.13's. the 44 will give you great gearing options and the gear sets are WAY cheaper. oh, and strength---the dana 44, stock, will hold up to the 33's. i have 37's and a dana 44 frontend on my MJand haven't broke---yet ;). the H233B will hold up to tires ~37-38"

good luck.
