Actually John Boy, I got a better suggestion:
Back in 1600's or 1700's when a traitor against country was caught in Europe during a battle... what they would do to him would stick him on a pole.... the process looked as follows: they would sharpen a tree trunk and lay it flat on the ground and secure it to the ground so it wouldn't move. Then they would attach the culprits legs one to each horse and they would very slowly and gently (so that he would not loose conciousness) pull him onto the sharp end. If he did loose conciousness, he would be given a moment to rest (while unconcious) then he would be brought back onto the planet earht

. After they got him a fair ways onto the trunk, they would tilt the trunk into a hole that was dug so that he would be in a vertical position. Then... to help gravity, his legs would be weighed down a bit so that he'd be constantly in a slight downward motion...... after about 2 or 3 days (people supposedly would live about 4 to 5 days of that!) they would set him on fire and leave him......
Oh the good ol'e times
