ok, so i installed my bastard pack this weekend. the leaf order is:
(top)
xj first leaf (knuckles)
top three s10 leafs
third down xj leaf.
(axle)

sway gear was removed, and stock shocks are on to limit down travel until I get the shims and tc drop in two weeks (I get time OR money, seldom both). This setup gave me about 6.5 inches or about 5" over stock, almost no articulation and an EXTREMELY harsh ride. So the question is this will this improve with new shocks and as the packs "settle in", or should I ditch a leaf on each side and make it up with long shackles? I like the +5 and can live with the harsh ride, but the lack of articulation worries me.

btw... I'll be getting 33s and gears this summer. Will throwing more rubber at the problem help???

I am with ya on this one.. I only installed 2 s-10 leaves in my pack and its really stiff.. I dont drive mine alot, so I dont know when it will settle down.. but i hope that it will.. As a reference, I was told that leaf springs are like plywood, the more layers the stiffer it will get... As stiff as mine rides, I was also told on a trail ride, that everything was articulating quite well, inside the cab I didnt notice anything crazy but it was stiff... I have Doestch shocks for 3.5 lift... and they are a bit short.. I got more lift then i was expecting...
