Hi,

It looks like JKS are off the list.

I am still thinking about buying and installing rock sliders, I would like to see them on somebody else XJ. Are there any Rocky Road Outfitters, AJ or Custom 4x4 fabrication rockrails owners in the south bay/peninsula area who could show me his/her XJ ?

Thank you,
Andrey

I have got AJ's, but I'm in the East Bay. I can post up pics if you want, or PM me if you want to come look at them.

Don't get Custom4X4.

Didn't you take a pic of mine all smashed in? Post it up if you can find it.

The C4x4 are OK, they just don't have much support from the small 1/2" angle iron they use that runs along the pinch seam. The price was right for my set, free.

Which ones do you have, the super rail, the standard, extended or the super square ?

I would be interested in extended or standard only. If you got these, that would be very interesting to see. I am mostly interested in how they are attached. Can you post any pictures, please ?

Shomsky, do you have any of how they mount to the pinch seam and frame rail?

yeah they mount to the frame rail with self tapping screws. you have to drill 21/64th into the frame rail then put the screws in.
then for the pinch seem you drill through the pinch seem then put the bolt and nuts through.
i can come over and show you if you want
pm me if ur intersted

I have the same as shomsky> I was skeptical on how they bolted up, but I came down harder on them than I thought i would and they held up. One did bend upwards a little, but I came down really hard on them an it was kind of expected. they are handy for getting to the roof to.

Haha I have them, I was asking for Slonopotam, he was wondering how they mounted. I ended up just welding them to the pinch seam and frame rail. They have held up extreamly well considering the crap I have put them through. If I were to do it all again, I would Fab up some rocker replacements and make me some boatsides.

Forgot to get the pics, I'll get them first thing in the morning.

You bent 3/16 ? Which part of the rail ?

I came up a steep incline at a high rate of speed then landed on both rails at the same time. I bent up the rear of the passenger side slightly. looks like it is just bent up not really dented. I didnt notice it for a while. Not a big deal, and for me 3/16 is very dentable and bendable just need force and weight. I think AJ's are good rails at a good price.

Thank you all, I think I saw everything I wanted to.

This is what happens with sliders bolted to the frame and the pinch seem (RRO):
