Well I made it up to Minesweeper today. Me and a TJ. the tj made it alright. I thought that I would walk right up it, started out okay but I bumped a rock and stepped on the brake and it started to bounce. A few bounces later and down the rock I went. I have some pictures and a video of the roll and recovery. I'll have to get them put up on youtube, its down right now though. As soon as my pictures are up on photobucket I'll get them posted.

Looks like time to chop up the XJ. Kinda sad, first time to roll a jeep. I realy wanted to make this trail. Maybe next time.:(

O no!! That sucks big time =[

Glad you're ok but Sorry!

wow crazy, i didnt see it rolling at all, i think if your wheels would have been turned full lock left it might of helped... ahh well who knows..

atleast you have video and pictures!

WOW!! :scared: I see what you ment by your tire bouncing ya back....looks like ya dumped the clutch alittle hard and bounced off the rock.... Sorry about the rig!! Now we will have to tube it out!! Gotta love the slush box!!

I have the recovery video loading up right now. Yeah not sure how it happened for sure. I toutched the rock with my bumper and tire, I stepped on the brake and clutch and it unloaded a bit and bounced. I think I will figure out the suckdown winch that I've been wanting. Its hard to critique it after it happened. I could of should of, don't know though.

Ouch, that sucks man. I remember you from Moab Rim 2 yrs ago. I was the trail leader. Loved your XJ, nice clean rig. Sorry to hear about the carnage, but like you said, just bust out the saw and some tube and move forward right? Good luck with it.

Hand throttles are the best thing for technical rock crawling with a manual transmission.

Glad no one got hurt! Man, the 2-tone white XJ's are dropping like flies around here!........:D

That's a nasty obstacle there...... And I wanna go try it!

Keep us posted with your new plans for your rig.

BTW, is/was that a solar panel on the roof of your rig? :dunno:

He has a hand throttle.

Yes, that is a solar panel he wired in.

Yep it was my daily driver.

The solar panel was originaly put there because I was having a problem with a battery and it would not hold a charge. Checker kept saying the battery was good. I put the panel up there to give it a bit of a charge. I finaly got checker to waranty the battery and I left it on for my new battery. Never have had a problem since. Everyone asks about it, well everyone that can see up on the roof anyways.

Sorry for my ignorance, but is that the Minesweeper trail in Moab, by Kane Creek. Also known in some circles as Killer Kane? It's been many years since I've been there (probably more than ten years), but that doesn't look terribly familiar...

Nope its the Minesweeper that is south of Salida, Co. Not a very well known trail but a hard one for sure. One of the top 10 in the state.

that sucks, but hey look at the bright side, you got a video of it..

I'm tring to figure out what to do with it. The insurance totaled it, The two passenger doors dont close right, the rear hatch still works but with some rubbing, not sure if we can straiten the window frame out enough to get glass back in it. Im not worried about the fender or hood. Top is smashed in a bit. The post between the doors on the passenger side is tweeked a bit. I realy just want to chop it up and tube it, I should just see about fixing it and driving it. I need to be able to drive it down the hwy w/ the kids in it. A cage is a must then we will see. I have thought about finding another body for it and swapping things over and caging it. Not sure have to wait for progressive to finish all of their stuff before I do anything.
