About 2-3 months ago I put some lower rear guards on the Jeep. I decided to go with the Rocklizard Gila Guards. I got them from ups and I was really happy looking at them in the box. They were well cut and super beefy (3/16"!) The finish was really nice and the fit perfect on the Jeep. Install was about 3 hours by myself. If you can heve friend around. They can help you hold the armor up while you bolt. Overall I love the way they look and they have held up awesome. They will run you 89.99 plus shipping if you like what you see. I used the older style bumper caps to top it all off.

Here are some tech specs from the Rocklizard site..
Made from 3/16" plate, these lower quarter guards are laser cut and made of Grade 50 high strength steel. Gila Monster Quarter Guards come bare steel with 3/8" countersunk stainless hardware and detailed instructions with color photos. Gila Monster Quarter Guards add great looks as well as superior strength and rigidity to your weak rear quarter panels. Drilling required. Minor trimming required on BushWacker and TJ Wrangler flares for perfect fit.

Hope you like..

With all the lower skinning, have you noticed any extra weight in the doors? My only worry is with my 2 door they already have a tendency to sag more than the 4dr models.

jeep01XJ,

You mentioned you put the rear gila guards on a few months ago, how long has the lower skinning been on? I noticed your location is WI, I was wondering about salt and corrosion being drawn to where the armour is mounted....have any problems or have you not seen any snow/salt with it on yet?

The Door armor has been on all winter. I did caulk it all up and there has been no issue of rust on the Rig so far. The rear gaurds fit so weel that I just caulked the top and sides. That armor just hugs the fender nice. :)
