Replacment Head Lights

well i did this conversion and WOW what diff, now i want to do the wire upgrade. where can i find them and which is the best. i searched and found alot on making your own but i hate wiring and would like to buy one already made so all i have to do is wire into the XJ.

Tried the SilverStars, etc., but to me this is by far the best for the $$. Got the Hella 200mm H4 e-code glass lamp shells from Susquehanna Motor Sports ($34/ea). Then picked up on eBay four IPF 80w/60w H4 bulbs ($10 w. shipping). 'Course you can get whatever wattage HI/LOW H4s you want, but these were very adequate. Then got a universal APC 4-lamp wiring harness w. relays also on eBay (much cheaper than the 2-lamp harness, just cut off the extra two H4 sockets, $9 w. shipping) which fit perfectly and allowed the H4s their full amp draw with no dangers of melting/shorting the stock wiring. Literally a night and day difference.

Why did you cut them off ?, you could have used the two extra sockets to trigger fog and driving light relays in the future.

I also have the Sylvania Silverstar replacement headlights. They are a huge improvement over the previous halogen units. I would advise anyone who is going to use their OEM harness, as I did, to stop by Radio Shack and get a spray can of electrical contact cleaner. Use it liberally to clean the connector sockets before installinstalling the lights. Good clean connections will make a big difference in the light output.

that will only keep your oem wiring from melting at the connector where that goes, it will NOT make anything any brighter. You have to replace the FULL harness to get more current to the lights so they will work optimally. Those things are sold b/c when people upgrade the bulps in their cars with higher wattage units, the part of the harness that tends to burn out is the wiring right in front of the connector to the bulb due to the heat that builds there. These pigtail units are more heat resistant so they won't melt, but they won't improve lighting.

I replaced my stocks with Silverstars.

They made a noticable differance but I dont think they are nearly as good as somthing like a Hella or IPF H4 setup.

The life span of the Silverstar is not good. I used them in my YJ and the low beam would burn out after a few months. I would replace the bad one with a new.... and shortly after the other would go too.

I've been using the silverstars for over a year now.

hella e codes w/ 130/90 watt, hella dual 55 watt bulb driving lights (two bulbs per housing, called a worklight) plus apc 55 watt fogs do ya think i could be more annoying

no what you should do is just get some HIDs. they were on my rig for a day and man they lit everthing up. if you get the HIDs you wont have to get a set of aux lights. your battery and alternator will thank you. trust me!
