replacing front crankshaft seal

I noticed a leak coming from the lowest pulley on the front of the motor last weekend while off roading. It started leaking pretty bad by the end of the trip. I need to replace this seal soon.

My question is do I have to remove the oil pan? My haynes manual says to remove the radiator, fans, belts, oil pan, and vibration damper to get access to the seal BUT the pictures show the vibration damper pulley removed but the oil pan still on. I don't see why I have to remove the oil pan.

Do I?

Thanks

Remove: belt, crank damper, seal. That's it. Might be a good time to install a new damper if it's not somewhat recent.

Do I need to remove the radiator and fans? Is there enough room for a damper removal tool?

Why does the manual say to remove the pan?

Yes, there is enough room without removing the radiator and fans. Your manual says to remove the pan and the above items because it is a POS>

LOL alright thanks man, I appreciate it. I was gonna do it all but now it seems like an easy job since I don't have to remove all that stuff.
